I guess that would depend on what State we are in. In Tennessee, between Memphis and Nashville, I would say, Natchez Trace State Resort Park & Forest, Exit 116 off I-40. In Texas, Sea Port Village in Rockport, Texas and you can't miss at any of the Texas State Parks, besides the people of Texas are great. In NW, South Carolina, Devil's Fork State Park on Lake Jocassee. In Utah, just outside of Zion National Park in Springdale, the Zion River Resort is super nice. In Louisana, just off I-20 in Ruston, Lincoln Parrish Park and don't miss eating at Cajun Cafe just up the road.

One of our favorite spots was the Lake Fairfax County Park in VA. We stayed there several nights when we were touring Washington DC. The only drawback was that there were no water hookups...otherwise it was a great place and cheap too.

Two answers:
1. Our favorite campground is Longhollow on Lake Lanier, north of Atlanta. It's private and doesn't have lots of ammenitites, but it is small and warm and our kids love it.
2. The BEST campground we have ever stayed at, hands-down, is Topsail Hill near Destin, Florida. Everything you want, flat, wide, private campsites, full hookups, reasonable price and a beach that cannot be beat.

This is a great park. Yes, it has full hookups and is exit 116 off I-40. I can't remember rate right off hand but very reasonable. You can eat at Lodge which is usually a buffet - ask your camp host. It's a ways back off the Interstate but nice and quiet; most site with lake view.

I don't think that I really have a favorite. I love to travel from place to place and see a lot, but plan to visit a lot of the Thousand Trails resorts soon.
After rv,ing for many years, sold my camping trailer while kids were into all their school activities. Now that they are grown and gone, we will be getting a new rv and hit the road again.
I am retired now and wife has six more months, then it's bye-bye Louisiana.
We are actually starting our limited travels before she retires. We will be at a Thousand trails in North Texas the end of this month, then on to Illinois for a week.
Hope to see some of you on the road. Happy Trails!

We really enjoy the Rifle River state forest Campground in Michingan. Sites have electricity, and dump station available. Newer bath house and decent sized sites. There is a lot of beautiful scenery within the park as well as some excellent fishing and hunting. There are several campgrounds within the recreation area with the Grousehaven campground is the modern one. The rest of them are primitive with vault toilets. This recreation area used to be a private hunting retreat used by many notable people including Fred Bear, several astronauts, and Arthur Godfry. It is still pristeen and wildlife is abundant.

If you like warm weather, bike riding, birding and have a dog this park can't be beat, it is the cleanest, best maintained park I have ever used, large spaces, all concrete, it is next to the state bird park and 1/2 mile to the national butterfly area, both of which are free for residents of the park. A 5 mile bike paved bike pathe and inside the bird park, where no motor vehicles are allowed you can ride all over. There is at least 1 acre of fenced in area for your dog to run loose, with an obstacle(sic) course. Very little outside traffic.

My favorite campground is Petoskey KOA, MI. SUPER nice staff, great activities, Squeaky Clean (restrooms, store, grounds, etc). And I like the fact all roads and sites are PAVED. Upon check-in, you follow a staff member (who is driving a golf cart) directly to your site, they help you "park" your rig, they ask if you need help with anything, etc. If you need/buy firewood, they bring it to your site and unload it right at your fire pit. We so enjoy this CG!

One of my favorites is the Indian Campground in Buffalo, Wy. It's family-run and sits under about 200 huge cottonwood trees, so there's plenty of shade during the warm summer months. Full hookups, small pool, laundry, clean restrooms. I like it because it makes a good home base when I'm up there meeting friends who I study the Indian Wars with. Buffalo is my favorite small town anywhere, nestled in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains, it's a very history city, with the Indian Wars, the Bozeman Trail and the Johnson County Cattle Wars all taking place in the vicinity.

In Ocean City, Maryland
Frontiertown, the waterpark is included in the price, they have a pool and playground, boat slips, campstore is well packed and they also have a mini golf that is included. You can rent the golf carts but it is better to bring your bikes. They have cabins for rental. They have sites that run along the boat ramps but no trees near the water. There is a food store about 5miles down the road, and about 10minutes is the inlet you can go to the beach, fish and walk downtown Ocean City.

Just returned home from S. Lake Tahoe, Ca. (see previous post re: Camp Richardson- - ugh). We stayed @ the new RV park off of I-5, exit #99, In Canyonville Oregon. The Park is operated by the 7 Feathers indian Casino. It is a beautiful park w/concrete level pads, full hook-ups, very well maintained landscaping, Very courteous, helpful staff. and several amenities such as pools, cable tv, wifi, etc. I was amazed the morning befor we left, a park employee stopped in front of the MH, walked to the front, and pulled both wipers out & away from the windshield. I started to go out and confront the employee, when I realized that he was preparing to wash my windows, (they were covered w/bugs). This ws a first for us. The employee had a badge on that identified him as a "guest services" person. He said that this park was recently rated as the 6th best park in the country. If this is true the other 5 must really be something. Oh, I almost forgot, Upon arriving, and after ck. in, we were escorted to the site by an employee in a golf cart. All this for only $28.35. We will definately return to this park, and if you are in the area we encourage you to stop here also, you won't regret it.
