A recent converstion with a major RV retail outlet indicates that the remaining New National RV units are still in demand. They indicated extended warranties are being offered. Many people, thinking they can now buy one of these last of the Nationals at huge discounts, are being told no, to their low ball offers. They are being sold at discounts but don't expect to get one for less than what the dealers have in them. Speculation is that these units offer a great value if bought right. Sales are only up on the smaller units especially the Mercedes/Freightliner Dodge Sprinters that are getting around 18 MPG on ULSDiesel fuel. Although National is out of business, all of the components used to make them, are and will be available as they are used in many other brands of RV's.:D

The problem I see in buying one of these units is that there will be no warranty on the RV itself. Yes, a lot of components will be covered by the company that made them, (furnace, fridge, and that sort of thing), but what happens if the unit you purchase has a water leak somewhere (around a slide for example), and it does a lot of damage before you can get it repaired? The dealer is [B]not[B] going to fix it for free. :(
These units may be fine RVs, but I have yet to see any new RVs that do not require some kind of factory warranty work.
Just my humble opinion.:)

Do I hear off-shore RV products? I've repeatedly "preached" that the North American RV manufacturers should keep a watch over their collective shoulder. The North American auto manufacturers have learned that very hard lesson. The "off-shore" auto manufacturers of yesteryear are now the son to be "biggest" auto manufacturers right here in North America.
Why can't our North American RV Industry take a page from one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) organization like Wal-Mart and service, service, service its customers like we deserve. Then perhaps the squeaky shoe of the European/Japanese RV manufacturers will keep their products on their shores...not ours.
I am to buy North American....please make it worth my trust and support.

IMHO, you will 'find' if you are really interested, I bet you can get a good deal on one of the nat'l RV's. Dealers will always tell you they are selling well, but the overall picture of the industry would suggest otherwise. I have seen the Lazy Days 'sell' and La-Mesa and I'll tell you, while they 'say' business is good, AIN'T so!!
