Is there a product out there that will allow me to plug in to 2 15amp recep. and then connect to my 30 amp rv at home? I've seen the cheater box for 50 amp connections, but not for 30 amp. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Be very careful when plugging into a household 30A outlet. Most are wired for 220 volts, and your RV is only 110 volts. If you plug into the 220 volts, you will definitely destroy most of the electronics in your RV.

RVs are wired differently, so you need to have an outlet just for it.

If you were asking about plugging into a regular 115 volt 15 amp outlet, they do make adapters to do that. Most RV stores should carry them.

Hope this helps.

I just had an electrician friend hook me up a 110v 30a plug on the Driveway side of the house just for my MH, I ran all the wire & conduit, and he just hooked up the plug & make the connection at the breaker box, I just had to buy the conduit and a 110v 30a breaker.

Not to repeat but make sure it's 110v. There is a story here someplace where this girls boyfriend thought he was an electrician and hooked it to 220v. The girls father plugged in his TT and all hell broke loose. I wonder if she still has the boyfriend!

Good advice!!!

Make sure the wire size is correct, the voltage is only 110 and nothing else is running off the circuit.

And be very careful. I just had a 30 amp circuit installed at my sister's house and the electrician hooked up 220. I took one look and said nope your wrong it is not 220 and he checked with his boss and made the necessary changes. I will in the future do it myself.

All electricians are not created equal.;)

You use #10 wire.

I have asked this question and still don't under stand the way 30 amp hook ups work in a home instilation.
1, have a dedicated hook up
2. use the approperiate size wire
3. the approperiate receptical
4. Have 110-120 circuit
5. How is 30 amp's aquired from a 115 circuit that ( as I understand it) produces 15 amp's.Electricaly,I am very uneducated in the theory of operation, the mechanics of it OK,but I just have never understood the 115/15 to 115/30 part.:D
safe travels

For an 30 amp RV circuit you have one HOT lead. Most household circuits at 110Volts only have 15 or 20 amp breakers. That is to say, the breaker in the fuse box is sized so that if the circuit that it is supplying exceeds the 15/20 amps that it is sized to supply then it will break or trip. I am sure that you have at some time in your life had to reset a tripped breaker. The size of the breaker determines the size of the wire that leaves the breaker and is routed to the application that the circuit is supplying. See the earlier post about the size 10 wire. The higher amperage breakers require larger sized wire (the bigger the wire the lower the number). Most 15 amp breakers use size 14 wire, 20 amp breakers use size 12 wire, 30 amp breakers require size 10 wires. So, if you were to install a single 30 amp breaker in your fuse box (provided you have the capacity in your box) and you used size 10 wire, on an isolated circuit to your RV 30 AMP recepticle then you should be ok. You must be careful that the 30 amp breaker that you are installing isn't intended for a 220V application. If you look at a typical 30AMP breaker you will notice that there are two contacts provided, one for each side of your electrical panel, designed so that each size will allow 15 AMP protection. You need a 30AMP breaker with a single side contact.
If you are at all unsure, hire a professional. The cost of a mistake will more than offset the cost of an good electrician.

I understand the difference between 220 V & 110 V, I also understand that you can throw a breaker with too many amps on the same circuit. My question quite simple, I think, is there such thing as an extension lead that comes off the four prong RV plug that changes it to the standard house connection? If not what colors match a standard house circuit (2 year old house)?:

To answer your question four prong RV plug that changes it to the standard house connection?
Yes there is. There called a dogbone or a pigtail adapter as well as numerous other names. You can get them at most any RV supply, and a lot of Walmarts even have them.
You will actually need to buy two, One to go from the 50 amp 4 prong plug to the 30 amp 3 prong plug and then a second one to go from the 30 amp 3 prong plug to the 15 amp house plug. With this combination you will be set for almost any elect. hook up.

I f you stop and thing about it why not put in a 50amp 220 plug and get a 50am to 30 am addapter like most every one uses in the new rv parks;) then you dont have to change plugs when you upgrade to a 50am motorhome or dont have to worry if you hook it up wrong. Full timerwith 50am motor home

Everyone that successfully produces power for there RV at home uses the proper AMP box the RV requires . Campsite or home . At a Campground it is a great idea to test your power supply ( often times a 30 amp recpt will give less than 30 amp ).
A lot of RVer's that are just getting started get aggrivated with the rig or their dealer before giving themselves a chance to become familure with the operational check proceedures pertaining to their RV.
Remember the one about the little boy that went to his first day of school.
Upon arriving home that afternnon his Mom asked " Did you learn everything
today " ? he replied " No , I have to go back tomorrow "!

Give yourself a chance ! Relax and make memories . When you don't remember something and ask for help at the campground and you see the guy smilin' . He is remembering a couple of his mistakes/memories ! and smiling at himself . You will too!
