Happy New Year,

What are the most important things to consider when looking for a fantastic site for your R.V.? What luxury items add to your visit? If money was no object........what would you have at a custom designed R.V. site?
Where do you put company ,if they visit you ?

Thanks.........Miss Beth

I am from the old school of camping where luxurey is FHU and a reasonably level spot to park. It will be fun to follow this thread to see what some folks are going to come up with
I get a kick out of some of the comments I read in different forums about various " campgrounds" and "Resorts". Times have really changed from my beginning days of RV'ing. Thank you for posting this question but in responce I have to say FHU and a reasonably level place to park with a reasonable price.Cable would be an option LOL:D
PS
Happy and healthy New Year
safe travels

Good grief what has happened to RVing? When people have to have running water, electricity, sewer hookups, cable tv, Wi-Fi (wi-fi must be some new type of stereo music system  ), even a level spot, all where they park!! Not to mention a swimming pool, club house, clean bath rooms and showers with in a few steps of there spot.
Now I realize that some people have to have Valet parking service, a convenience hook up person, a cook, waiter, & don't forget a personal bartender to tend to there needs while they are roughing it with there RV as well.
Now to answer your questions as they relate to us.
What are the most important things to consider when looking for a fantastic site for your R.V.? No one around that is close enough to be seen or heard. I'm camping, not staying at a luxury resort. What luxury items add to your visit? A nice little stream full of hungry fish. Need something to do while I'm busy doing nothing while camping. If money was no object........what would you have at a custom designed R.V. site? Well if it's going to be "custom designed" then I guess a creature feature or two would be nice. Hmm lets see, a fish cleaning station to clean all the fish that I will catch from the stream, and a nice B-B-Q pit (not to be confused with a outdoor grill) to cook all the fish that I just caught and had to clean while I was relaxing an camping. Where do you put company, if they visit you ? Any where they can find a place out of sight and hearing distance. I'm camping, not entertaining company. :D :D

Condo Camping is the new form of camping, all the luxuries of homeoldstyle camping is staying in the woods a mile away from the next person to me thats for loners and unsociable people. And yes when it rains my kids have dvds, playstation w/ surround sound of course 35 ft. of trailer to do what they want microwave for popcorn stoves for cooking but the most important thing is they are not stuck in a tent driving me nuts because they cannot do anything. But I will give you one thing campfires are the best unless it is raining then inside to the fireplace.LOL:D

Miss Beth don't miss the whole point of being out there. You will not find a perfect site. You are grateful if it is level, roomto get your slides out and long enough to park your towd or truck in.

All in all you take what you get. But if there was such a site I vote on having a knock out view. One I don't have back home.

WhoDo, I like the first part of your answer!!!

But the reality is-it is what it is and if you do not like that spot then you move to another until you find what is perfect for you!!!!

Whatever-we do what we do to enjoy!!!!

I would change one part of whodo's answer just a little bit and that would be having a LARGE stream full of LARGE hungery fish like salmon, steel head and sturgen.Gotta have room for the boat and a place to dock while sitting around after the trip and enjoying the senic wonders of the North west. Like where I go every fall. Just wish the park would stock my brand of ale to nip on while regaling all who will listen,to my story of the one who got away and watching the sun set over the ocean.
NOW that is luxury in my book along with the FHU and a reasonably level place to park:D , cable is an option.

My post above was meant to be tounge-in-check humor, don't take it serious.

fixit: Where do you go on the coast, one of my favorites is Winchester Bay to go fishing.

Missbeth mentions "luxury", would a heated pool in the site next to you qualify?

Our current place is Coyote Rock at Lincoln City. Really like the folks who run the park and they are just comfortable to be around . The park is comfortable also.
As far as the basic post I believe all is in jest and toung in cheek and far from what missbeth was/is asking, doesn't seem to be many Prevo  owners out their to express there preferiances.I have pretty much stopped being serious the day I hung up my gun belt and badge:D . Now in my golden years it's all fun and grins and giggles.

Level ,water, electric prefer 50 amps, sewer if possible by a creek so the little ones can jump in. All grass or dirt so that when it rains the little ones get muddy and totally wet and when they leave they will have had a good time. That is what it is all about.

I don't know about the "sewer so the kids can jump in" but to each his own.

I kinda like all the suggestions I have seen. I saw a tv special on resort campgrounds. Seems the rich campers pull up in these nice paved wide sites and someone hooks them up. They call meal delivery and a $200 meal for two is delivered with wine. Doesnt seem much like camping to me, but heck, if I had the funds for it, I might do it. I think two key ingredients in a camping trip are good weather and good neighbors. The good weather lets you get out of the camper and having good neighbors lets you enjoy your site. We camped next to a camp host site one time in Florence Marina State Park in Georgia and figured it would be ok. Never heard so much noise in my life. There were at least eight to ten grandchildren visiting that weekend seems like. They never talked below a yell and it was like that for two days. I would also put my vote in for roomy level site and sewer hookups too.

One of the great things about RVing is that there are so many different ways to do it, and we have encountered alot of different people with just as many different tastes and campground. There are the basic RV'ers who are into what I call "campfire and marshmallow" camping. They enjoy someplace quiet to sit out, have a bbq meal and enjoy good conversation. These types usually are happy with or without utilities as long as they are self-contained. The middle of the road types like myself want a large campsite so I can get in without dinging my rig. If it doesn't have water, 110, sewer and a clear shot of the southern sky for my satellite dish, I regard that as rough camping. Although I prefer to have a pool, jacuzzi and activities program in the lodge, I have stayed at many campground that did not have these and still had a good time. Then there are what I call the Resort Campers. Usually fulltimers, these folks have luxurious big rigs and want all of the above plus many activities planned for them such as aerobics, pool exercise, dance lessons, dances, arts and crafts with lessons, field trips to casinos, etc. Alot of parks that have these amenities are in the snowbird areas of Arizona, Texas and Florida. There's really no right or wrong way to do it. It's all about what you like.

I like a level spot wide enough for my slide and easy to park in. Water, sewer, elect, cable and laundry room with clean showers.

I travel alone and rarely have visitors so it is just me and my little 5 lb Yorke.

I have been on the road this trip since April and usually stop for one or two nights but some times stop for a couple weeks and one time for a month. If I am only stopping to sleep I do not put out my slide and Walmart parking lot will do.

I have been in regular RV parks that were really quite nice and I have stayed in luxury RV parks that were dumps. Myrtle Beach comes to mind. I have stayed in real nice parks on the Oregon Coast, the San Juan's in Washington and nice parks in KS and MO and a nice one in Nashville that were not billed or charged as luxury, very reasonable. I stayed at a park in Atlantic City that was pretty nice on the website and cost a bunch but was all dirt no grass, no gravel, no extras. The only thing they had going for them is close to the board walk. (5 miles)

I have no need for a luxury park with all the bells and whistles. Nice safe secure FHU site is all I require. I like to feel safe when I leave my trailer for site seeing or when I lock the door and go to bed.
