I am a wannabe, just retired, put house on the market. I plan to travel as long as my health allows. I plan to be on the road a lot. I want something easy to handle but large enough to cook, eat, sleep, watch tv and be on the computer in reasonable comfort. My budget is not large, so I'm looking at used rvs under $50,000.
I have mainly looked at Chinooks and Dynamax 21 ft long. Now I have seen a Coach House 23' which kind of makes my mouth water.
Someone told me if I was going to travel as much I say, that I should stay with the 21'.
I also plan to carry a honda shadow motorcycle on a carrier with a swivel support wheel.
Any thoughts, I would be grateful.
Thank you,
Jerry

Your thinking right to wonder what you will be needing for a lot of RVing. The question is are you going to live in the RV or just do some trips and rent or buy another home? If your going full time you will need something big. The smallest size that gives you some elbow room is a 36 foot with a slide. That's livable. Anything smaller is catastrophia on wheels. The smaller units can get you to some places a big rig won't but, you are not camping anymore you're living mobil. Take a look at these bigger units before you buy, and sit down in one with the slide open. Now that's livable. Congratulations on your retirement!

Thank you for the input. I have been in a 40' and driven it. It had slideouts and was very comfortable. It was a friend with family of 4.
I drove a Coach House today, 2002 model with 13,000 miles. It was beautiful, with all the bells and whistles (auto leveling, auto seeking sat dish)
If the price would not hurt my retirement budget so bad, I would have bought today.
I plan to live/travel alone. I plan to stay small.
thank you,
Jerry

Jerry,
Welcome to Retirement. Duchess and I left work in 2006. We bought a 33 ft Damon Challenger, Class A, used motor home. It has a single slide. Has most everything we wanted/needed. We've put about 8,500 miles on it....most of them in 2007.
It is comfortable, big enough for us, and nice going down the road. Set up is about 15-20 minutes including leveling, hookups, etc. Take down about the same.
GPS is mandatory....
Check our travels/pictures at my weblog: http://iboughtanrv.blogspot.com
Best of luck!
