I am new to the rv life and have much to learn. I recently took out my 5th wheel using the teflon plate on the hitch that I read so much about. I liked it and after unhooking back at home I noticed grease on the plate and the hitch. Is that normal? Also how long does one plate last? thanks for any info.

Don't know where the grease came from; I've not had that experience. I still have the origingl teflon plate after three and a half years and over 100,000 miles ... hardly any noticible wear on it. However, because I do not grease the hitch plate I find I have to spray it with a lubricant to prevent rust.
