Hi, I am new to this site and new to RVing. We will take delivery of our 2008 Platinum Class C in about 6 weeks. Here is my question: I am looking at pots and pans for the kitchen. My husband found some RV pots that nest and have handles that come off for storage and are made for RVing. What does everyone use and what types of pans do you need the most/
We love to cook and eat so this will be really important to us. ;)
Thanks

I usually get some from the rummage sale to use in the camper. I found I use less pans than when I cook at home because most of my cooking is done on the fire. As I go to sales I keep upgrading my pots and pans. I have a large corn pot, a small frying pan, and several different size sauce pans. I also have a electric griddle and frying pan in the camper and use them on the picnic table outside most of the time to keep the mess out of my trailer. I also buy the aluminum trays they serve food in at buffets from the dollar store and use them to bring food in off of the grill. they are usually .50 each at the dollar store so I just toss them out when I'm done with them.:D :D

I applaud jimbo's thriftiness and ecologically sound practice of obtaining garage sale items and helping to cut down on the manufacture of more American waste. But I might suggest that he reuses the aluminum trays, as they are pretty durable. And we know what happens when things like this are just "thrown away": (A) Landfill (B) The use of energy and raw materials to make more to replace those that we throw away. ;)
Here's a challange for us all: Try it!

I used to reuse the trays many times but when I took a class at the health dept when I was working a concession they told me we should never reuse the trays. They stated food gets caught in the creases and can't always be removed by washing. when I am home I recycle the trays but when camping there are no means to recycle them. Wouldn't it be nice if cg,s had recycling containers in them.:D.
I also use some used cake pans I bought at the rummage for this purpose and they are reusable and can be washed safetly. I also found a nifty one with handles that works great for taking hot stuff in off the grill so you don't burn your hands.
