I would suggest the banks power pack that will give you the biggest bang for the buck. See posts below.

I didn't want a 6.0 Ford so I got a 2002 with 7.3. Went to Alaska for 11 weeks and knew I needed more boost to be dragging 7 tons (12 tons total) over the Continental Divide several times. Went to a guy I trust who knows chips and programmers and he suggested Hypertech since they don't increase heat and other things that can void warrenty (not that that is an issue). Banks is the top of the line but often creates the need for bigger exhausts, pyrometers and a host of other add ons.

I got up to 15 mpg on flat lands towing and 8.5 mpg in the mountains (that is hard math not the dash computer which is optimistic). Only problem was transmission heating on 11% grades which was fixed with synthectic transmission fluid.

The programmer at about $350 is easy to install and more that paid for itself in diesel mileage. The 30+% increase in torque was a big help. Plus I enjoyed the crisper transmission shifts which is an included option with the Hypertech.

rving you didn't say what year your truck was.
i had a 97 f-250 psd auto 2wd ex.cab. i added 410 rear gear and had a 60hp or 80 hp programmer. 60hp recommended for towing by maker of programmer. when i towed with extra horsepower installed i would get tons of black smoke out tail pipe towing up long grades. i was using a K&N filter which i'm now told is a big no no for a diesel engine. also, i made an exhaust brake with about 12' of wire and a starter switch which i use for two trips to alaska. i didn't want to spend ex. money on the 97 f-250 so i bought an 05 f-350. i'm a happy camper.
good luck

I also have a F250. We were also concerned about the power. We love the truck and decided to invest in it. We put a K&N intake system and a Gibson twin exhurst pipe on it. These two help with the flow of air and up the horse power. We also went all out and had a Gear Vendor installed. This turned the four speed transmission into an eight speed transmission. Basically, instead of the truck dropping down a full gear (loosing RPM's), it drops down half a gear (loosing 1/2 as meany RPM's). It works great and even though it is an automatic action, You can switch it over to manual and change gears at will it you feel you need to. (there is a dip switch on the floor to do this) Love it.

Good Luck :)
