For the past five years, my wife Carolyn and I have been traveling the country in our 36’ Discovery. Our travels started in Phoenix, Az. and have taken us to 22 states where we have enjoyed more sights and experienced more sounds than our imaginations could have created. I almost feel sorry for those people who feel compelled to travel outside the US of A.

We have experienced our share of challenges, but nothing so great to deter us from our appointed rounds. During our travels, one common problem kept re-occurring, and that was internet connectivity. Depending on the campground, we would have access to a wifi system that was costly and unreliable. I’ll bet many of you can relate. I have looked into a phone card, but found they are not as advertised.
I have been doing a ton of research trying to find a reliable and affordable system of internet connectivity, and I think I have found the answer. It will soon be possible to have coast to coast, border to border T1-T3 wifi coverage and VoIP all for less than thirty dollars/month.

The system is now live in WA, OR and TX, soon the entire US and CA. That will be the complete roll-out by 12/08 or sooner. This technology has been in research and development for more than 5 years at a cost of nearly 13 billion dollars. All R & D are now completed as have all permits and FCC licenses and testing is ongoing throughout the country. As soon as all testing is completed, the complete wifi and VoIP will be “online” and I for one can’t wait.

If any of you are interested in more details and the link to the company’s site, I will be glad to supply it. Just send an email with message yes I’m interested.

Interesting, I wonder if that means AOL, Yahoo, Time Warner's Roadrunner and all the other servers will no longer be needed.

Unfortunately border to border wifi is impossible. As anyone familiar with wifi knows you need a server sending out signal and you need to be able to recieve same signal. Nobody except for satellite internet has that capability. And I dont think anyone is building a satellite to send a wifi signal border to border since this distance from satellite to earth would be too far and even with satellite any object between one and the satellite has no signal. This sounds more like someone trying to get people to contact them for some reason or another and that can be unsafe. Or they would have post the web site here for all to see and read. Even the phone cards cannot get into every corner of the states and they will admit it too.

Good points, never thought of that.

Sprint already has a card that provides internet service through it's telephone network and will work wherever you can get cell phone service which is practically border to border with a few dead spots just like cell phones.

This thread is very interesting to me because I know relief is on the way.

Wally is correct in his statment. However the service is not yet available but will be this year. (2008)

New technology has been developed and will soon be available to all.

There is no need for me to spell it all out here, it would take to much space so I'll put a link here for a website that tells it all.

I will be available by phone anytime to answer questions.
