I was talking to a fellow RVer who had an old Winnebago. He said that the sink drained into the black water tank, not the gray water tank. I thought that was a great idea. Keeps the gray tank cleaner and I almost never max out the black water tank, but have the gray water tank. I would like to see more manufactures adopt this scheme

I have a 30' Cedar Creek and I have 4 tanks altogether. Fresh water 65 gal, Galley 28 gal, Gray 40 and a black 40 gal. I never thought not all RV did not have separate tanks for everything.

we have a 2007 Open Road 5th wheel, and we have 4 tanks . kitchen sink to the galley, bath sink and shower to gray, toilet to black and of course a 63 gal fresh water tank.Out 30' travel trailer only had 3 tanks..easier with the 4 to say the least..In the campground during the winter, I leave the galley open, but the gray shut to rinse the black after emptying..Dona

In our MH (2001 Safari Serengeti) the vanity drain goes in to the black tank, Manufacture says that is to add more water to break up the solids. Even with that we can go 7 to 8 days on a dump. Knock on wood no problems as of to date.

I have a 2007 Tioga 31', the vanity sink goes to the black tank and the shower and kitchen sink to the gray tank. I leave the gray open until the black gets about half full giving me enough to clean out the hose.

Would it not be a good idea that when you dump your tanks that the gray water flows through the black water, not just the hose, to rinse the whole tank out

I never heard of an RV that has tanks together like that, there has to be a reason why.

I remember from back in the long lost past that both went in to the same tank, but, it was a real mess on ocasion and that was the lloooowww end RV. But your right, I cant/did not know why it was changed other than the above and some folks still have a great mess on occasion and the smell was fierce.
