Well, we did it. It's in the yard. New owners of a used Newmar Moutain Aire 2000, gas. Still with temp tags. We do have on know problem plus a second question. First - our left front leveling jack stays down. most of the time a simple push with a crow bar using approx 15lbs of pressure and it works up. But a couple times it required all my weight (I am not small). Any ideas? Control valve or else? Second - We want new tires, any opinions on brand, load rating, were to purchase? Size is 245 70 19.5

First thing I would check on the jack is any kind of build-up on the jack. I had this problem and I used Scotch Brit to clean and then lubed the jack and it works fine. As for tires Goodyear G-670as they are made for MH's.

I have a newer motor home and sometimes my jacks act up and dont go all the way up when I try to raise them with a pry bar some times they are easy and some times they wont budge. But if I have the wife hold the retract button they can be pryed very easily. Good luck

I hope this repost works; the other didn't appear to go through. Sorry if this is a double repost

I'm told HWH doesn't recommend anything on the jacks; this may be true, but it only worked for a few weeks for me.

Avoid anything abrasive, caustic or attracts dirt like the plague. This may ruin the very smooth ram surface then there goes the seal.

Use any good silicon spray, the hydraulic fluid is petroleum base, so those with these ingredients shouldn't damage the seal. Wash the ram and the area where the ram enters the ram housing with the silicon spray then wipe down the ram throughly with an absorbent cloth. Do this often during dusty conditions or when the the jacks are extended for over 4-5 days.

I contacted HWH, and order the new type of springs ($30 for two) and installed them. Cycled at least 6 times and all worked well. Times were less than 1 minute 10 seconds for all.

I just had to replace the touch pad on my 2003 Newmar Dutchstar. The repair facility stated that I should NOT put anything, such as Lithium Grease, WD40, or any other substance that will collect dust, dirt, etc. They told me the most important thing to remember is be sure the springs are all in good condition. I had to manually raise my jacks and one set of springs worked but do so real slowly. So I replaced them. Good Luck.
