8 potatoes boiled and skined 1/2C water
5 or more slices of bacon diced 1 1/4 tsp salt
I tbsp. flour 1/2C sugar
1/2C vinegar 1 sm onion
celery to taste (sliced) green pepper to taste(diced)

fry bacon slowly,add flour, vinegar, water, salt,& sugar. Cook till thick cube potatoes. Add onion, celery and pepper to bacon mixture. Simmer till tender. Pour over potatoes. I put in crock pot when done to keep warm while serving.:D

I haven't had German potatoe salad in years. Your recipe sounds great, though I have never tried it with sugar. Thanks :D

Well here is some more German Potatoe Salad it varies by area.
10Lb bag Pot.wash and steam with skin, peel after they cool down some
then cut/slice not too thick
1 Jar real Mayo
2 Good sized unions chopped small
12 Eggs Hard boiled 9 for salad the others sliced for top
5 German Gurken /Pickles sliced small/add about 1 cup of the pickle juice
1 package of boiled sliced ham 1Lb cut into small squares 1/4-1/2 inch
Pepper and salt
Mix it all up then add 4 tablespoons of French dressing adds flavor and adds a bit of color this part is my addition Mom made the rest and I was born and raised in Germany.
