Yes,I live out in the sticks LOL.I love living in the country though. It's peaceful and I know most all my neighbors from miles around me.It's wonderful.Hopefully one day I will be able to travel more and enjoy life on the road for a while. Not to long though.Cause after being gone for a while it's always good to come back to home sweet home.

I live in Baton Rouge, have not been to Pine but I have heard of it. We camp often in the area, Fairview, Percy Quin, occasionally the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We love camping.

We have been campers for about 35 years, all the way from tents, to truck camper, to pop-up, and conversion vans but sorta got out of it when the girls (3) were in high school with all the activities etc. Wife and I have both retired now, so we bought a new motorhome and going the freedom bit. The girls live close enough that they take care of our home when we are gone.
This year we have spent a month in Arizona and between, Branson, Mo, Hot Springs Ark, and just got back from a couple of weeks in Tennessee.
Don't know yet what the rest of the year will bring. Actually there are a lot of things we want to do, and places we want to go right here in Louisiana.
Take care and enjoy your fiver.

hope you enjoy your retirement and get to go and see everything ya'll want too.it will be a long time before i see retirement have in only 7 years with the state .but,we will be camping every chance we get until then.
safe travels on the road.

Hi Sandra1966
Hope you are able to get out camping as much as possible, and know that your 14 yr old son can get a wonderful education being out among nature. Sometimes I feel that a person can learn a lot more being out than they can in a classroom.
Wow! a state worker. I have a trememdous amazement for someone that can work for the state of Louisiana and keep a good outlook. My wife worked for the state for 27 years as a supervisor in Foster Care/Child Protection, finally had enough and retired in Aug 2007. Seemed that every time you turn around, the state was "shafting" you but no pay increase. They are asking her to come back as a contract consultant for case review. I don't think she is quite ready for that yet. Maybe later.
I worked for the federal government as a aviation Quality Assurance specialist/Inspector, giving up and retiring in 2003 with 36 years federal service. Having said that, I think that my wife and I have both given our share of government duty, so it is time to enjoy our own lives now.
Oops! I rambled on and you didn't ask for that. Anyway I hope you enjoy camping as much as we do, and maybe we will camp next to you sometime.
We have never been to Paul B. Johnson State Park, but we enjoy going to Sam Houston Jones State Park which is about 35 miles south of us. We enjoyed a few days this week at Kincade Lake which is near Alexandria, La in the national forest.
Take Care! leeman

i think ya'll have done your duty for the government too.sounds like very stressful jobs.you and your wife need a break.enjoy life for a while.your right about the state giving people the shaft.their very good at that.
i am a respiratory therapist and my husband works for an electric coop.so whenever our schedules work out that we can hook up and go we do.i have never been to sam houston jones state park of kincade lake.this will be the third time this year that we have been to paul b johnson.the first time my husband caught a 80lb.catfish the second time our camping friends husband caught a 20lb.catfish so who knows what we will catch this time.we are staying 5 nights so we should catch something.one night we will fry catfish and boil crawfish another night so either way we will enjoy our trip.
well,i have rambled on.i good at sometimes so forgive me.i hope ya'll get to visit paul b johnson sometime i think you will enjoy it,especially if you get a lake front site.the lake is beautiful.
take care,
sandra1966
