Great place to visit. Besides the shows that Branson is famous for are around 8 different museums. All are well worth seeing. Than there is the shopping there which is fun and can be an all day thing as well. And if you are a veteran you can get discounts all over town for just about everything.
We usually stay at the Americas Best RV Park or also known as ABC.

I have been to Branson in January three years ago, july two years ago, and nov dec of last year. There is heavy traffic year round. But when you have 20 show houses, 10 museums, stores and restaurants to beat the band that is to be expected. There is a map you can get when you get there showing different routes thru the town. If you use that map and plan your excursions you will find the trip a whole lot easier and a lot less time waiting in lines. Also a lot of the real popular artists such as andy williams, mel tillis, and others take the winter off so you will not be able to catch their shows from late dec to around April or May. But there are still way too many shows that one can catch to keep one plenty busy. The wife and I put away 1200 dollars that we take there just to see shows and try to catch 12 shows per visit. You can catch 3 shows a day and sometimes even more if you plan it right and see them 7 days a week. At any one time there are at least 24 different shows going on in the town. And sometimes even more than that.

Thank you "utmtman" very informative reply.
The last time I went to Branson was "Oct.1992" happened to get lucky and had perfect weather, warm enough you didn't need a jacket and very little humidity (to us anyway, being west coasters, we don't like humidity :D :D ) 16 years of development latter and we won't recognize it.
We have been trying to put together another trip back to Branson, then over to Nashville then down the Natchez Trace with side stops along the way for the past few years. I guess this fall we will just have to take a chance on FUEL, weather etc. and just do it.

We went to Branson a few years ago and stayed at the Corp of Engineers park outside of town....the spots are nice and manicured plus they are far apart. If I went again I would stay there again....:D

Oh yes Branson! I have heard great things about it, oh and yes about the traffic also, but I'm sure it is worth it. It is definitely on my wish list.

Hey,

We live not far from Branson, in the Ozarks. I would suggest you go April, or May, and then maybe September, October. Before school let's out and after it resumes, to reduce a little on the crowds.
In the summer we are noted for 90/90 weather. That is 90 degrees, with 90% humidity!!

Just a thought!

We're planning on heading out toward Branson in July. We're going to go tubing (with drinks hopefully!) and fishing. Any suggestions for places to visit in the surrounding area?

I saw a few places mentioned here (http://www.campingroadtrip.com/top-7-family-destinations-in-the-ozarks) and wanted to get your thoughts. Would you recommend stopping at any of them?
