Please help! I have never had an RV before this one I bought a few days ago. It is a 2005 Weekender 30' travel trailer with a single 14' slide out. The seller said that he thought the slide motor was failing, as it is slow and struggles to open and close. The wires heat up if you use it too long. It doesn't matter if I'm running off shore or battery power.

I now think the problem may be really related to alignment. When the slide is closed, the bottom prodtrudes a little bit more than the top. The top seems to close tightly, but there is a slight gap at the bottom. Even if this is not the real problem, I'd like for the slide to close tight and flush. I have been able to find no information about adjusting that angle, from the manufacturer, manual, or anywhere else. Does anyone know how to tweak that angle?

hi madcow,
yes there is a way to adjust it but you prob gonna have to take it to a dealer to get it fixed.....there should be 2 or 3 "arms" or that the slide sits on. there are some adjustments that can be made under there. now remember whatever you do may affect how it sits when it is out as well. also while you are under there check and see if anything is obstructing or draging etc. now does your slide operate off of a motor gearbox, or hydraulic cylinders? it should have some kind of locking mechanism as well, either mechanical or electrical, it may also be hydraulic as well.

Many if not all slides have rollers underside also. I have replaced/adjusted rollers that were causing this problem. It is not an easy job, it is heavy and you need to know what your doing. You have a 2005 and very well could have rollers that need to be adjusted.
