Wondering how to charge the laptop and kiddo's electronics while on the road. I'm a newbie and I'm assuming we won't have electricity in the outlets unless plugged in at CG. I have seen in the stores those chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter (at least that's what they used to be called) that have a regular plug-in coming off of them. Do they work and are they safe?

For small current demand items like laptop computers, kids video games, flat screen TV, etc. a small inverter would do what you want.
If you stay with a small inverter you should be able to just plug it in to a 12volt cig. lighter socket. Just remember that most cig. lighter sockets are only rated for 15 amps max. If you get a inverter in the 400 watt range you will need to hard wire it directly to the battery.

I have a 400w Maxx by Vector inverter that works well. It came with hard wire but I haven't needed to hooked it to the battery. It has 2 outlets but I never tried plugging into the two at once. Then you may need the hard wire.

On our last trip, when the battery for the laptop started to get low, we ran the generator while traveling and recharged the battery.
It didnt seem to use that much fuel and it worked for us.

True but jackson3 may have a TT without the generator.

We're renting the RV and it does have a generator, but the place we're renting from charges so much per minute to use it. So we're going to try not to if we don't have to.
Thanks for everyone's input.
