I want to carry a bicycle on the back of my 2007 Crosscountry motorhome. I have a 5000# receiver hitch and would like to install the bike rack and continue tow a car. I looked at camper world, they had a rack that fits over an extension in the receiver hitch, but they did not have an extension.
Does anyone have any experience with this type bike rack and towing with the rack installed. I am somewhat concerned about using the extension to tow a car.

Yea I do, I had to search and search until I found a hitch long enough to be able to slide the bike rack on it so I could still tow. The first system I ran an adapter to drop from 2" to 1 1/2" in and than adapter from 1 1/2" back to 2". Finally I found a 2" extention about a foot long and it solved my problem. Now if you have a reciever that sticks out a little from the back of your rv and is not set back under it you should just need a long hitch.

The one I got from Camping World fit over the Blue Ox tow bar that fit into the motor home receiver. There is a several inch gap between the end of the tow bar and the receiver and it went in that gap. I did not have to use an extension.

I have my outdoor chairs on the ladder so could not use that. Had a tarp maker make we a wonder cover for the chairs so they are protected and kept basically clean as we travel down the road. Also bought a bike cover for the bikes to keep them clean too.
