After nearly 6 years in Catemaco, Veracruz, along the Gulf Coast, we are seeing more Rvers every winter. If you have any questions or concerns about spending the winter in Mexico (where gas is still less than $3.00 a gallon and diesel even cheaper), drop me a line.

Where have you crossed the border, about how far south of the border is it to get there (days driving, miles), how are the camping facilities, where do you recommend, what are the temps in Jan.
We stayed in La Penita (40 mi. N Puerto Vallarta) last winter, the low was 52 deg. F for about 2 weeks, temps normally in the low to upper 70s. Campground was great, many activities, many RVers all over the area, wifi available, ATM available, 1 hr drive to PV, small fishing town with most of the amenities - go to PV if you really need something. We are going back this month until late April.
Any websites to check out for more info? Thanks. :)

My wife and I own an RV Park in Catemaco, Veracruz. We drive up to Texas to visit family and we cross in Brownsville / Matemores. For an RV there is a free trade bridge outside of Harlingen and I have been told it is easy and you are not having to enter or drive through a boarder town. Mike & Terri Church´s book on camping in Mexico explains the best crossings and gives you routes and park locations. I´ll bet 90% of people coming in our place use their guide and the remaining 10 % wish the did. I would expect to take 3 days to get down, we drive it by car in one long 16 hour day but that takes practice. Many stop for a couple days at each stop and enjoy a slow peaceful drive.
The lowest temp. I have seen in the 6 years I have lived here is 58 F.and that is early AM with the temps always climbing at least into the low 60´s. According to one site on the internet the average low from Dec. thru March is about 68 F and the average high 77 F.
We offer wireless internet at no charge, 30 amp elecrtic, sewer and water. We also have laundry facilities, swimming pool and are staffed 24 hours a day. Our web page is www.gaudis.com for a bit more info and some pictures.
There is good shopping close by with a Soriana ( like a WalMart) and a Bodega Arrurra ( owned by WalMart) about 15 minutes away in San Andres. There are a couple ATM´s in Catemaco, wide sidewalks and parks along Lake Catemaco and dozens of restraunts to choose from.
