I would suggest getting an inverter sized to power your TV. If you have a small TV you can get an inverter cheaper than a new TV. I had 400 watt that powered a 12" color TV with no problem. Cost was approx $40.00 at Walmart in the Automotive Dept..

I am no expert either. I checked on the internet, a 19" color television pulls approx 70 watts of power, a smaller set should pull less. I have used an inverter to power a 12" TV and a laptop computer with no problems. Never more than a few hours at at time. I had a MH with 30 amp but I have two deep cycle batterys. If I used an inverter I would monitor the battery condition. Most monitor panels have a battery condition monitor.

I don't know the tech aspects of inverters and such, but 12 volt dc televisions are sold daily at your local truck stop. Most large truck stops have a large selection of 12 volt dc appliances.

The July issue of Trailer Life Magazine Page 76 recommends using a AC/DC set because the inverters may not produce clean elect. current and may pull more power than the stand alone TV because you are powering two elect. devices.

The first thing you have to determine is the capacity of amp hours your battery has.
According to Interstate Battery a typical 13" color tv will use about 2.3 amps in 30 minutes or 4.6 amps per hour.
Since you only have 1 house battery i would be very careful of your amp hour consimption.
If you have the room two 6 volt golf cart batteries will give you better service than one 12 volt.
Whatever you do do NOT pull the battery or batteries below 50% of full charge the easiest way to determine this is with a digital volt or multi meter a reading of 12.25 volts or a hydrometer reading of 1.190 indicates 50% charge or depth of discharge.
Hope this helps if not let us know
