I use Mozilla Firefox and now I hear there is a new version. Does anyone have any experience downloading and running it? I have never installed a new ??? (I don't even know what the thing is called:confused: ) and am hesitant. Anything I have to watch out for? Thanks!

I dont have the new version but I am sure you can find it by just opening your firefox browser and it should show up there and then you just follow the directions to download it.

I downloaded and installed it the first day it was available.
It was very easy. The site had a download button and asked if you wanted to install it directly or save it and install it. I have another laptop I want to install it on so I downloaded it to my desktop and then ran (installed it).
It did all the work and even checked to make sure that all of my add-ons were compatible. It found one that was not and uninstalled it, found one that needed an update, and automatically got it and updated it.
One of the things that I like about Firefox (all versions) is that the delevopers seem to pay a lot of attention to making it easy to use.
It also displays pages faster than the competition and does not give up like IE7 often did on my laptop.
I really hated to see that "IE has encountered a fatal error and needs to close" error message.

I also downloaded and installed the new version and it was easy to do. I am using a rather old HP Pavilion with only 256mg memory and I had something strange happen today.
I logged on and checked for mail this morning and then shut down Firefox and started to do some other things on the laptop. Things were running extremely slow so I brought up the task manager (XP Home OS) and looked at it. It told me that the only program I had running was Excel, but I was using 100 percent of my memory. When I looked into what processes were running I discovered that Firefox was still running even though I had shut it down. As soon as I shut it down (after all the warnings of what might happen) my computer worked fine.

Easy download, pages do seem to load faster. But 2 add-ons I'm used to having (hit a hint and bookmark duplicate detector) aren't compatible. I've seen reference to a workaround on hit-a-hint but it hasn't yet aggravated me to the point of getting after it. Hopefully, these will up updated in the near future. Had I known I probably would have waited to upgrade to 3 as I'm sure its nice but on my home computer and laptap which I didn't upgrade I'm getting along just fine.
Moral: check compatibility of your add-ons.

FF3 told me that two of my add-ons were not compatible and it automatically downloaded and installed an update for one (Scripts). I thought that was a nice touch.
I will have to wait for the other one (Tabs) to come out with an update I guess .

I tried firefox3 and it kept crashing. Trashed it and went back to firefox2. No problems and can't see any difference between the two.

Oh yeah there's differences. Completely new under the hood and definitely more secure!
For me the pages load noticeably faster. Some add-ons still don't work, but that will be short lived.
Easy to download and get going.

I have not downloaded Firefox 3 yet. I have a Hughes internet satellite and receive a monthly newsletter from the company that sold it to me. In the most recent newsletter they reported that some of their customers were having trouble with Firefox 3 as it relates to their satellite installation. I am now hesitant to download it until I am sure it will not cause problems with the internet satellite. Couldn't live without my internet! :D

CherLark,
I have HugheNet DW-7000... formally DirectWay.
I have downloaded FireFox 3.0.1 and have no problems. I use both FireFox as well as Explorer. You can use which ever one you want.

I have it and LOVE it!! No problems at all. There are a few add-ons I had that are not compatible with it but I wasn't using them much anyway so no problem. I'm sure they will be upgrading the add-ons to work with it too. I have enough just as it is.

In most cases the add-ons already have upgrades, you just have to make sure you're searching for the FF3 version.
