Lets start a group and call it "The Concerned Americans"

My first concern that we could change is fuel prices......

Check this out:

Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products? In addition, they
are gouging us on oil prices.
Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny
and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their
livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export
deficit?
An appealing remedy might be to boycott t their GAS. Every time you fill up your
car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia . Just purchase
gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Nothing is more frustrating than the feeling that every time I fill up my tank,
I'm sending my money to people who I get the impression want me, my family and
my friends dead. The following gas companies import Middle Eastern oil:

Shell................................... 205,742,000 barrels

Chevron/Texaco.................... 144,332,000 barrels

Exxon /Mobil........................ 130,082,000 barrels

Marathon/Speedway............. 117,740,000 barrels

Amoco................................. 62,231,000 barrels

And CITGO oil is imported from Venezuela by Dictator Hugo Chavez who hates America
and openly avows our economic destruction! (We pay Chavez's regime nearly $10
Billion per year in oil revenues!)

The U.S. currently imports 5,517,000 barrels of crude oil per day from OPEC. If
you do the math at $100 per barrel, that's over $550 million PER DAY ($200 BILLION
per year!) handed over to OPEC, many of whose members are our confirmed enemies!!!!!
It won't stop here - oil prices could go to $200 a barrel or higher if we keep
buying their product.

Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:

Sunoco....................... 0 barrels
Conoco....................... 0 barrels
Sinclair..................... 0 barrels
BP / Phillips................ 0 barrels
Hess. ....................... 0 barrels
ARC0......................... 0 barrels
Maverick..................... 0 barrels
Flying J. ................... 0 barrels
Valero....................... 0 barrels
Murphy Oil USA * ............ 0 barrels Sold at Wal-Mart , gas is from South Arkansas
and fully USA owned and produced.

All of this information is available from the U.S. Department of Energy and each
company is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing.

I got a better idea. Lets petition Congress to support construction of more refineries and drill our own oil. How novel.

Hey "dlrupper" I caught part of a TV news report last night where some one was suggesting that exact thing, there was a couple hundred people in the back ground protesting with signs "Not in our Neighborhood".

I do agree with you, we need NEW REFINERIES, and more of them. With today's technological advances they can build more efficient and cleaner operating refineries that are more environmentally friendly than the ones that are in use at the present time.

What we need, is a REAL conspiracy investigation, against the oil companies, to find out WHY, when we need MORE refineries, they are selling them to Mexico, or trying to bulldoze them, with a BS claim that they are losing money.

That sounds like more BIG GOVERNMENT. All they do is spend money investigating everything. :( Our best bet is to get government out of the way and let the free market supply the demand.:)

Gosh I am glad I am aware of the world around me and not going off anything I can find off the internet for total information. Otherwise I would be posting false information along with others.
Sad some people do little or no research before posting garbage.
rvsongs4you, you need to make a little journey to Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska and a lot of other states before you post crap like that. If you did you would find that the same companies you are complaining about for the most part also drill, pump, and process the most oil in the US. And if you would do some research you would find that a lot of the companies that you say dont import oil, buy their fuel from these companies you are complaining about. Thus you are saying that we should sell our cars and rvs and never drive until such a time as price for fuel is better for us. And for anyone to even put a dent in one just one company it would take the entire world, not just the US to not buy their fuel for 30 days. Will you pay for the people put out of work by your suggestion??? Will you support them so they can eat and live in a house and send their children to school???
Im sorry but posts like this are just stupid, dumb, ludicrous, childish, and plain out and out rediculous.

 UT/DL, sorry I vented like that, guys, you're both probably right. Was just being a ticked- off retired guy who was so looking forward to hauling my fiver to all 49 driveable states and probably all driveable provinces as well but now am looking forward to 150-200 mile jaunts about once a month cause that will be all I can afford for now. No one seems to have a viable answer to this problem but you can bet someone is making a buck off of it! Whether it is BIG GOV, no refineries, hurricanes or earthquakes, the bottom line is... we lose. We pay... thru the nose:( :(

Lots of folks can't understand how we came to have a so called oil shortage here in this country. Well, there is a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil, we just didn't know we were getting low. The reason for that is purely geographical. Our oil is located in Alaska, California, Colorado, Coastal Florida, Coastal louisana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Texas. OUR DIPSTICKS ARE LOCATED IN WASHINGTON, DC. Any questions? I didn't think so. (Garfield said that)

Bad part is no oil shortage. Bad part is no place to process oil. Your right about the dipsticks bein in DC. Two days ago they completed the investigations saying that the speculators would be shut down and oil would fall by half within 30 days. Also the Saudis said they would pump more oil out. Very next day oil went up 5 dollars more a barrel. So much for dropping prices.
