my husband and I are considering a thousand trails membership. We especially like the locality of these with respect to where we live (MD). We camp around 10 weekends a year, mostly in MD and PA. We don't anticipate ever needing a membership off the east coast. We have two 20 yr. olds that we would like to be able to include on our membership so that they would be able to use the membership as well. Anyone know what kind of membership we should consider? There are so many of them.... We definitely would do a resale!

I am one of those who hates Thousand Trails and everything about their organization. If you join TT/Naco do it with as cheap a resale as possible.
Read everything twice! There are many contracts out there. You will be obligated for years....they won't be obligated for anything. Make sure that their usually "out in the middle of nowhere" parks are in an area you would use regularly. Don't count on full hook-ups or power over 30amp. Do I sound bitter? I am speaking from experience. I will always try to talk people out of making the same mistake I made. Thank God I'm no longer a member.

I am a thousand trails member and I enjoy it alot, but you need to check very carefully witch one you pick. If it were me I would look for a VIP getaway membership I think thats the best bet

We received a free 3 month membership to T T. Our obligation now will be to pay the yearly membership fee to continue to belong. We were told we had no obligation. What do you think?

Im with joyjohn, I dont care for a lot of them and they way they treat people once they are members. Most sites have prices that will get you the rest of your life even though you think you will get discounts dont always count on it.

We've had our TT membership for aout 7 monhs. We used it in florida and hope to use it more in Oregon & Washington. Overall, we've been pleased but be sure that on a resale, you know exactly what you are getting. Even with ours, we've found a few small things different than we were told. The ROD that came with ours has been superb. Very friendly and helpful at the 800 # and the parks have been great.
I was told that if you found a resale you were interested in to get the contract/member number and call TT directly and they must tell you exactly what you get with that particular membership. Hope this helps, Diana

DO NOT JOIN Thousand Trails! I was a member 5yrs and it was very bad.If they hear you bad mouthing TT they will try to kick you out of the park. I did and I dared them to try and put me out. I was given an apology but would not take it.

I read your entry on the MyRVSpace. com website and see that you might be interested in a membership with 1000 Trails.
My wife and I have been RVing for 15 years but it is time to come off the road. We currently have a 1000 Trails National Membership that we purchased in 2001 that we would like to sell/transfer to somebody who could use it. Currently, most National Memberships are well over $6000.00 but we are willing to let our membership go at $2900.00 (if you want me to pick up the $750.00 transfer fee) or $2150.00 if you pay the $750.00 transfer fee.
For information, you can either call us at 209-383-2261, or e-mail me at KheSahn068@aol.com
Thanks!

If you would like to have your children on your membership, you need to get a Platinum membership. It allows you to go to any TT/NACO/LTR for up to 21 nights (14 nights in some area during "Peak" season), but also give you family usage. Feel free to call me with any questions or prices as I am the Moderator and also own Campground Membership Resales.

I find it interesting reading these posts and some people love the same thing some people hate. I do membership seminars all over the country and literally have people who come up to me and rave about a certain resort or system, such as Thousand Trails, Coast to Coast, RPI, ROD, Passport America, etc., and five minutes later someone comes up to me to tell how much they dislike the same thing. I have been doing seminars for over 15 years and suggest that you get your feet wet, buy a resale. I know I own a resale company, but I have saved thousands of people thousands of dollars over the past 15 years. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Thanks,

This past summer I talk to a thousand trails rep at a dealership in oregon and he showed me a map of the parks I than showed him everywhere we had traveled over the previous five years and there were no parks along our route so to speak that would have been of a benefit to us. Had we traveled to calif we would have been in heaven for there are many in that state but few in other states and not always along major traveled routes.

I may be slightly off, but I believe that there are only 80 of them in the entire country, not much selection for the money.

Personally I find that thousand trails is not worth the money. And it reminds me of the time share programs for condos.

Just to let you know, campground memberships and discount programs are very different from timeshares. Know your facts please.

Dan I said and I repeat "they remind me of timeshare" because of the cost and the way they work. I know my facts probably better than you do. I have forgot more about timeshares and campground memberships than some people know about them. I have been rving for 38 years and have had memberships in a few in my day. I have also had timeshares when they first came out. I had Camperworld when it first came out too which was one of the first of its kind type programs for selling camping memberships. That was 35 years ago. I have had PA, KOA, and Good Sam as well.

We got into Thousand Trails when we purchased our motorhome as it was part of the package of the purchase. As this is our first venture into Rving we are always learning! Thus far we have used the TT system mainly in Florida, as this is our home. This past spring we traveled west and used TT and RPI parks through Ms, Tx, and Vegas. We are also Passport America members and have used a number of those parks while on the road.
If I had one suggestion for TT it would be to open some of their Encore parks to TT members without an extra charge.
Have met many TT members who are full timers and for them its a great deal it seems. Have a friend who has added his wife's parents to their membership. Seems that you can add family for a small extra fee, parents and kids no others family members though.

As a Thousand Trails member I recently received a phone call inviting me to a members meeting regarding the recent acquisition of Thousand Trails by Privileged Access.
Wondering what changes are in store for Thousand Trails members. Has anyone attend one of these meetings that can give me some information as to what is on the horizon?

We have had our Thousand Trails membership now for 5 years and love it. I heard all sorts of things about them prior to our getting the membership but since we have been enrolled we have truely enjoyed all of our time in the parks. We summer in Washington and Oregon and spend most of our time in the Thousand Trails/NACO/LTR parks. We have found several locations that we use more than others. We also go to the park in Cottonwood, AZ while en route to and from our winter quarters in Yuma, AZ. We have had absolutely no issues with the organization and find the people that both working there and staying in the parks to be very friendly and nice. I guess it's just one of those things that you either love it or hate. Put us on the side of loving it......
