We just returned from Gulf Shores last Saturday. We really enjoyed the area and will definitely return. Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines are both neat places to see. You can take a ferry over to Fort Gaines on Dauphine Island. Mikee's is a good place to eat. We didn't make it to Lamberts. We drove by a few times on our way to doing other things, and it was always crowded. It's quite the "hot spot." We also went on a dolphin cruise and then had dinner at Flipper's. They served free deep fried okra there.
If you get a chance, take a day trip to Fairhope. Lots of neat little shops there. Also, take a walk out on the pier while there.
And then there are the beaches! For us, that's the main attraction.

Hi,
I usually travel to Florida but with diesel prices being what they are we may try the Alabama coast. Any good campgrounds close to the beach that accept 5th wheels? How are the Alabama beaches?
Thanks

We stayed at the Apache RV Campground in Apr. It's right on the Ocean and has a pier that extends over 1600 ft out. Old campground, but not bad. We will probably go there again. Three Walmarts in Myrtle Beach

I don't know how old your children are or if they are with you, but try to go to the Florabama lounge if you can. it's the big attraction for bar hoppers on the beach. This is where the annual Mullet Toss is held every year. Also, go to a restaraunt called "Lulu's". It's owned by Jimmy Buffetts' sister, and is pretty nice. My wife went to a place called the "Wharf" and raved about it....
hope this helps!

I live close to Gulf Shores and we love to stay at Luxury Rv Resort in Gulf Shores. It is 1 block from the beach and you can walk to most everything close to the beach. If you want to stay close to the shopping area try Anchors Away in Foley, nice new park.
