Trying to find out what slide lubes have yeilded the longest lasting slide rubbers. That really doesn't sound good, but you'all know what I'm asking! Was told by the dealer that any rubber protectant would work, just trying to verify with those out here doing it for a while.
Also what roof cleaner/ protectant has proven to be a good choice? I have an 06' 31' Sunset Creek TT.
Thanks for any and all help,
Woody

Woody, the best slide seal lube would be a water based silcone such as they sell at camping world, Walmart etc. I would not use a silicone spray or anything that contains petroleum distallates.

For washing my roof (and the rest of my trailer) I use Tide powdered laundry detergent, believe it or not it is the best thing that I have found for cleaning the trailer, I put a cup of the detergent in a bucket of water and mix it up good. It even easily removed bugs from the front cap, I just brush it on and give it a couple of minutes to soften up the bugs then most of them will wash right off. It does a great job on the roof and leaves it nice and white.

Hi Woody..I have been using 303 on my rigs for about 8 years and have excellent results. 303 protects and shines. It is a little pricey, but I don't think you can get anything better for rubber roofs. Clean them well with soap and water, rinse, rinse and rinse more. Let it dry, then apply the 303 with a soft cloth...but be careful, it will be slick. Just work from the front to the back (or where ever your ladder is) and go slow. It works well on the slides also.

Tim,

Have you ever had any problems with discoloring or fading by using Tide? How does it affect rubber roofs? I've always been very careful with roofing systems and really afraid to use products on it. Is it safe, does it cause chalking? Do you put a rubber roof treatment on it when your done cleaning it or is it okay?

No not that I have noticed. I was going to use Spic n Span but couldn't find it anywhere around here, so i tried the tide. I don't use the formula with bleach, just regular, I have been using it for 2 years now and everything looks good. I don't use any other treatment other then washing the roof two to four times a year. I rinse it really well when I am done washing and it looks great! I liked it so much I tried washing the trailer with it and was amazed at the results, cleaned black streaks and bugs really good. I used to use trailer glitter from Camco but found I like the Tide much better. I also wax the trailer with Mcguires (sp?) cleaner wax in the spring and fall. The Tide does not remove the wax.........Tim

I used the tide, and you are on the money with that. I wont ever buy black streak remover again. The tide did the trick, and then I waxed it with the cleaner wax and wow it looks new again. thanks for the tip.

Woody, try a food grade silicone spray for your slideout's, won't gather dirt/dust or other residue! Available at most commercial equip suppliers, I get mine at Fastenal.

The big thing with 303 is that it is supposed to be the best UV inhibitor on the market. The sun is our biggest cause of detioration of our rigs. It is also very good for your awnings. The otherbig thing is DO NOT USE ANY THING ON YOUR RUBBER THAT CONTAINS PETROLEUM DISTALLATES!!!! It is a well known fact that it will harm rubber and yet if you check out many of the products that are sold for this purpose, They have it in them.????? It will also remove the UV protection from your stick on (not painted on) graphics.

Happy camping
