We have had some dealings with the corp. and they have all been great!! Our first experience was to fill a S.a.p. position where they were forced to let someone go. The money was good but the hrs. were long. We were the weekend host couple.(Fri. Sat. Sun.) Our co-host were super and did a great job training us. Usually the contracts are for 3 years, but if medical or family emerg. come up they will honor you leaving. The pay really varies from state to state, we were in Texas. We had a vol. position in Vermont for this summer, but the diesel just keep going up so we ended up having to cancel. They were even generous enough to offer us some money for gass to get there. After much prayer, we decided to wait till diesel goes down. I would highly recommend C.O.E. Parks!!!

Do they have any jobs besides camp hosts? I will be a solo and don't really want a host-type job - working in an office or outdoors would be my preference. I'm a retired female, so there is a limit to the type of rugged outdoor work I can do - I've read descriptions of things like checking nesting boxes, water quality, trails, etc., and this sounds good to me.

Hi, If you have access to Workamper News magazine, they feature corp jobs and vol. positions in their Sept./Oct. mag. For park att. contracts ,they like couples but their is always exceptions. If you can do without the money, their vol. positions are good. At our home park in East Texas, they do painting, trimming on the trails, raking leaves etc. We have a wonderful Ranger named Bill Smith that is a pleasure to work for. You do get a nice full hook-up site and I bet he would be glad to have a single person. Good luck.

We are currently working at a COE Lake in Des Moines IA. Only one of us has to put in 21 hours a week. It works out to be 3 days on and 4 days off. They have a really nice private park for us. We work in a day use fee booth. People have to pay a fee to use the boat ramp and we collect those fees. This COE lake has many VOL's and contract people. This will be our 2nd COE job and we have enjoyed them both.
Not sure where our winter job is going to be yet, but there are several out there to choose from.:)

you have to contact the corp and sign up with the vol clearing house that is how you can get a position if you want a gate keepers position you have to get a dun's # and regrester with ccr before they hire you not hard to do but a lot of red tape you can do everything on line

Hi Roadtrash, Thanks for the info., I didn't realize you could do that to get your jobs. We just went directly to the park we were interested in and got the job. Also, workamper mag. in the Sept/ Oct. issue has the indiv. parks that are needing help. They have a section for the bid jobs and another for vol. positions. That way you can pick the part of the country you would like to explore. Thanks ,till next time.

WE have worked for over 10 years for the coe. We find it very good working conditions and have nice camping sites. north and southeast are the ones that pay the most. Vol are a big part of the COE that keep our parks looking nice. vol for a year or contact one of the parks and they will help walk you throught the paper work. done once and undate once a year and you are good for three years. If they don't have anthing leave your name and number and aA LOT OF TIMES things come up. have fun and see you down the road

Thanks to everyone for the info. I was really looking for a little more detail from someone who had a contract for the paid positions. We are not able to just be VOL's. I know at most job sites the VOL's are happy but not so much when you work for money, lol. Happy Trails
