Yes you can use your cell phone as a modem to get on the internet. The connection speed will be some where around that of dial-up and it will use your minutes.

I use my cell phone with my Verizon service. I have broadband speed most of the time. Once in awhile when out of Verizon area, it is a little slower. I used to have it where if I used it after 9 pm or weekends it didn't go against my minutes. I just had to purchase a cable called Mobile Office Kit. I heard that eventually they were not going to continue this service so I switched about a year ago to a plan that gives me unlimited internet usage anytime and doesn't use any minutes. I would check the different plans with your cell provider. Diana

Until I just recently purchased a Verizon air card, I had used a variety of Verizon phones with the Mobile Office Kit to connect to the internet. I had a couple of different LG phones and then a Motorola RAZR phone.
With Verizon to get the broadband speed with the cell phone you need to pay for broadband service. If you are going to do that you might be better served just getting the air card and paying for the broadband on that.
Most of the carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint) run promotions where the air card is 'free' after the mail in rebate.

T-Mobile has a good service that seems to be a secret. I use a bluetooth dongle usb connected. I pay $30.00 a month and the service is unlimited, no minutes. Speed is between dialup and DSL. Works anywhere you can get at least a weak signal. For some reason few of their sales people know about this and I had to threaten to cancell my service to get one of them off their duff and check it out. It really works great.

Sorry for the delay, I just didn't check the forum for awhile and forgot to hit subscribe to topic. Yes I do have a Blackberry. I use it both tethered and "un" tethered. I am really pleased with it.Let me know if you have any more questions.
I did get DiDi from little cousins and Aunt Di from nieces/nephews and loved them both. Go by Di most of the time. I think that started because I was tired of correcting people when they called me Diane-- which really is different than Diana. Hugs to your sister DiDi. :D Di

We are using a Verizon air card via a router to get a little private wireless network going on. It's been great. I can go out side and work the laptop and yet I can be anywhere in the motorhome and it still works. We got the air card free and then we pay $59 a month for the service. It's really very rare that we don't have service.....sometimes it's slower than others but it usually works.
