Hello All, :)
Need some help with this on please... The wife and I are new to the RV world. We have 2 children 3yr & 1yr. we went for a tour at Waldenwoods RV park and Resort. This seems like a great place and has great amenities, but is a little expensive. They want us to spend about 5500 for 10 years includes Resorts of Distinction membership. Annual dues like 290 a year. So what I am asking is anybody’s help with this being a newbie do we jump in with both feet or should I just go to different RV parks and pay as you go...??? Also does anybody have feedback on Waldenwoods??? (Hartland Michigan)
Thanks for your help....

We have been RVing 8 years but camping 39 years starting with a tent like most other people. We raised our boys as campers and now are RVing about 7 months of the year. I would definitely hold off on buying an expensive membership until you have several years of travel under your belt and know how often and where you want to go with the family. Join Passport America for less than $50 a year and get all of your camping at half price. You can do the same with CampClub USA. Go on-line to get details and register. When you are ready to acquire an expensive membership, look into Thousand Trails, ROD, and Coast to Coast, but be aware that you need to camp alot to get make your investment worthwhile. We are Thousand Trails members and love it, but we're retired and on the road alot so it is well worth it for us.
Good luck.

I recommend you avoid those type programs unless you like time share because that is what they amount to. I traveled across the US last year and paid less than 3000 dollars for the years in rv parks and I am not a member of any of the park programs except good sam. And I am full time and travel year round. IF you shop around and dont mind staying longer you can get into parks for as low as 175 a month and than just have to stay two to three weeks to recoup the cost and make it worth your while.

Just to let you know, campground memberships and discount programs have nothing to do with timeshare.

I'm going to disagree with the others. I've been to Waldenwoods and liked it very much. The best part is you get to join ROD. We have many of the memberships and by far like ROD the best. The parks are great for the most part. You have access to Western Horizon Parks , Thousand Trail parks ,etc. If you can get a membership through a resale , all the better. But we both think you should consider the membership.;)
