Recently a group of campfire chatters met inTybee Island, Ga. for a few days of fun. This was the first time that any of us had ever met in person, and we walked away with some great friends. The experience was wonderful, 14 like minded Rv folks.

We enjoyed touring the Island, Savannah and Fort Poliski. Thanks to geothom for putting this gathering together!

Fun does not even come close to describing the Tybee trip! Over the years I've met a number of folks that I have chatted with in various other rooms, but have never felt so totally at home from the get go as I did with the Tybee gang! I sure hope we get a chance to do it again sometime and more will join in.

Interesting, How long/drive did it take you to get into Savannah? We have to go there in May 09' for my daughters wedding.

I don't believe it took us 30 minutes to get to Savannah. You pretty much have to drive through downtown Savannah (right along Bay Street) to get to Tybee. That was 'fun' with the 40 ft pusher and a toad, but everyone does it!!

The campground on Tybee (Rivers End Campground) is owned now by the City of Tybee, and is charming. It's definitely older and small-ish sort of funky sites, but the staff is great and it was certainly a fun place for a group get together.

There are other campgrounds in the Savannah area, but I would pick Tybee Island again if I got the chance.

Check out Georgia State Parks. There is one or two near Savannah that might be closer than Tybee.

I'd like to add that I really enjoyed the trip to Tybee as well! I am a GA native and am only about 70 miles from Tybee, therefore, I am a "regular" there. I have always loved it and the people there are always courteous and helpful. It is within walking distance of the lighthouse and the north beach and you can easily bike around the island.

As far as the friends I met from this site, I cannot tell you what a lifechanging experience it was! I met most of my chat friends for the first time there and it was, as "mo" said, as if we had known each other for a lifetime. I really hope we can plan another get together soon.

Thanks to all who made it a success!

If I may, I would humbly say that the sucess of the Tybee outing was due to the folks that attended. Everyone participated as if they were in the chat room, which was the intent.

The sponsors provided great raffel prizes which was greatly appriciated.

A special thanks to Rhonda who acted as a co-wagonmaster & chief breakfast chef, Mrs. Wagon,(Kathy), assistant breakfast chef, Smokeybear assistant breakfast chef & Bugs53 Low Country Boil chef, John Murphy Rally Comedian & all the attendees, you are a great bunch of folks that I am very proud to have met & to call my friends.

Geo,

Thank you for the kind words... My thanks goes to you... for it takes a special person to step up... take the ball and keep it rolling along... even if your thousands miles away.

You crossed the country... to put this FIRST ever CampFire Chat bash together... Thank You Sir !!

Next... thanks to everyone who was there... you must have felt sorry for me... and took me under your wing... I ate like a King... The Low Country Boil was fantastic... the evening meals just seemed to come together... (twinges of guilt here for not bring a covered dish) Thanks to everyone who made the bash !

I enjoyed my self and I trust my judgment by saying everyone else did as well.

We started the bash as if we were old friends of many years... no one felt a stranger... well gosh... we did know each other sort of... having chatted for a spell... but I am always pleased when folks get the chance to sit across from each other... and enjoy the chat up front and personal.

My Big Hope will be that the seeds have been planted... that this is only the first of many more to come... Be it anywhere in the country... lets hope friends who have met over the Campfire chat... will share the next level of this wonderful RV Life Style... and have a chance to attend a camping bash.

What more can I really add to all that has been posted here already! Everyone has already beat me to what I could've possibly added to this subject! But for one thing! I played a day of hookey from my new job in order to meet my online friends from the chatroom in person! And know what? It was the best time ever playing hookey from either a day of school when I was a kid doing it to a job that I have had! And I would most definetly do it again!!!!! Thanks my friends for the well spent weekend with you all! I look forward to spending more time with you all again soon! As far as I am concerned we're friends for life! Love you all! P.S. The birthday girl says many thanks for her birthday bash also!

I don't think I can add too much that hasn't already been said. For our first long trip with the RV, I can't imagine spending it with anyone other than this great group of people. It was nice to put the faces with the names! I thank everyone for the great friendship. I encourage others to do what this group did. Special Thanks to Geo and Jean for their long trip as well as getting this group together.

I look forward to all of us getting together again. It's so funny, I always worry about my girls meeting with internet people, yet Murf and I did the same thing. What a great group of RV people to get together. ;) ;) ;) ;)
