I have a 2006 Damon Challenger (Class A) and just went a couple of nights with storms, and found there are a couple of leaks coming in on the long slide (driver side). Wondered if anyone has had this same type of problem, and possible resolutions. There does not seem to be anything with the roof itself, but more coming in through the top of the slideout.
Thanks for any information.

Not sure if your slide was opened or closed at the time. I would check the seals around the top of the slide and check to see if any debrise got swept into the gasket when opening or closing. I noticed pine needles and small twigs got swept under mine once. It didn't leak but would have if I didn't catch it. I'd also check the outside seam on the slide they used a type of tape to seal it and from repeditive opening and closing the tape started to loose its seal and was peeling up. If none of these help I'd take a flashlight along the gasket in the dark and look to see if any light shines through. expecially near the top corners. Also have heard some people say thier slide came out of alignment and the gaskets didn't seal properly. Hope this helps like I said i never experienced a leak yet. Oh yeah another thing if your slide is open and you close it while water is sitting on it sometimes water will leak in while you are closing the slide:confused:

Thanks for the information. I'll check all of these. The slide only leaks when open. When closed it does not leak, so I assumed that it was something to do with the seal around the slide.

I have experienced leaks when our slides were out at times. I found what I believed was the problem with ours, and confirmed it with our dealer. The outside seal on our sideouts is designed to flip out as the slide moves out, and flip back in as the unit slides in.
Each time that either of ours have leaked, I went outside and found that the seals were still inside. The first time that I attempted to correct this problem, I made a mistake and used a sharp ended coat hanger bent into a hook and snagged/ripped a small section of the seal. To our fortune, this did not create a new problem.
If your seals are also of this type of design and that they remain in as the slide moves out, I would recommend that you try to use some sort of a hook and gently move it out. I now carry a aluminum bar about 3/16" thick, 1/2" wide, and 2' long with a 1/4" hook formed in one end. I made special effort to ensure that there are no sharp surfaces to cause further damage.
I have further found that if the slide stays in for a few days over the season that the seal will tend to stay in. If it sits for just a couple of days, the seals move properly. I hope that this helps.
