2cans fruit (peaches, cherries, pineapple,apricots)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
I box white or yellow cake mix
any flavoring you may want for fruit (cinnamon etc.)
first start fire as to have plenty of hot coals. Or a oven set at 350° will do in a pinch.
Then line a 4 quart dutch oven with aluminum foil.

Mix fruit with 1/2 cup of the cake mix and choice of seasoning, put it in the dutch oven. Mix the remaining cake mix with the condensed milk and puor over the fruit mixture.
Put cover on and place on a hot bed of coals and place a heaping shovel full on top. Or put it in the oven. Cook for 45 minutes to an hour. (check after 40 minutes) I find this is usually done before an hour.

jimbo i tried this:eek: out last night for the fun of it and it is awesome we had a bbq in the back yard so i knew the coals would be there.a long time. olive wood is not a good wood to use for cooking i found ou the hard wya so we are using peach trims next time with a little plum cuts. a little hotter fire but smells better.

Glad you liked it. I have made these for years and really enjoyed them. I also like to experiment with different fruits and fillings.

Jimbo, i just put a recipe online also. I have been trying to duplicate the blackberry cobbler from the Farmhouse Restaurant in Branson,MO. If anyone has eaten there, how do you think it is made. It is so good and I don't think they are going to share the recipe. also....remember the recipe of flour and beer for the no knead bread, ???? mine was heavy and didn't raise. Did you submit that recipe or did you try it ? Let me know if I might have missed something.

I don't recall the recipe the had beer in the bread it may have been inside one of the web pages I submited. A lot of the dutch oven ricipe pages I submitted were of the net and I haven't tested all of them. I have tried several no kneed recipes in the past and have had similar results. I almost wondered if I had bad yeast or killed the yeast. If you tell me where you found the recipe maybe I can help you.
