Went to South Dakota to a Family Reunion. Everyone had voted on going to the Black Hills this year. We had a chuck wagon cookout and learned the secret to using a dutch oven for baking cobblers.

Here's the secret:

Read the number on your oven lid. For Example: If its' a 12 then double the number--24. After your coals are hot place two-thirds on the lid (16) and one-third (8) underneath. When the coals are gone on the bottom your cobbler is about ready. Pull off the lid to check it. Mine were...

I tried it and so far it works every time. Caution!! If you reverse the numbers you still get a great cobbler but a real mess to clean on the bottom of your oven. Yuck!!

Try it...it's really that easy!!

when making cobblers line the bottom of your oven with tin foil you will be amazed at how easy the cleanup can be.:D
