While inspecting my rv to see how much work it would require to install headers on my bounder with a 6.8 v10 engine. i found a stud had been broken holding the manifold on. I bought my motorhome last year used so i dont know how long its been like that. Theres no noise or evidence of an exaust leak so i wonder if i leave it this way will it:confused: create problems later. Any input or similar experiences wood be appreciated.

There's a 50/50 chance your manifold will start leaking where the missing bolt is. If you change the manifolds to headers, then the chance of leakage goes to 100%. To remove the broken stud/bolt, you will have to remove the head from the block. It will take a lot of heat, as from a torch, to get the bolt out. You'll have to first drill a hole in the center of the bolt to accomodate an "Easyout". Stand up head so you can saturate the stud with Liquid Wrench then let set overnight. Apply heat to the stud with a torch and back out the stud with the Easyout.
If you ignore the problem and it starts to leak, You'll ruin the head, possibly cracking it :(. Then get your headers and rebuilt head and go at it.
Good Luck,
Ron
