We are near Augusta. Anyone out there from that vicinity? We just (in Jan) got a new, for us, Coachmen Mirada. We are looking forward to our first trip in it.

Not from anywhere near there, but we did just trade in our Coachman Mirada about a month ago. Had it for roughly 3 years and loved every minute of it. Nice MH, you'll enjoy it.

We are from Columbus Ga. and camp in this area mostly due to the work schedules. We are doing a spring break trip starting at Red Top Mountain State Park north of Atlanta. From my researching on the internet and the state park books, there are many campgrounds to choose from in the Ga, Tn, SC and NC area. Look at the State Parks, Corps of Engineers and Ga. Power campgrounds. Alot of good ones.

We're from western Ga (Cedartown). I've Stayed @ the navy rv camp on Alatoona. Best feature---close to the lake. 30 amp, water, sewage only. Fairly large lots, clean close to Cartersville.

There is not much to choose from in Columbus. There is one, Lake Pines and it isnt rated very highly. How long are you planning on staying in the area. FDR State Park is about 25 or so miles north of Columbus on HWY 27. It has a pretty nice campground but not with full hookups, water electric only. There is also a campground in Pine Mountain Ga. I do not know much about it, have just driven past it and not rode through it. There are also campgrounds in the LaGrange Ga. area about 40 miles north of Columbus. There are also three or four COE campgrounds in the Lagrange and West Point Ga area north of Columbus. They are nice and you would need reservations for the weekends. There are a couple of campgrounds in teh Auburn Al. area which is around 30 miles from Columbus. Hope this helps and isnt too late.

Ditto the COE parks around West Point Lake near LaGrange, Georgia. We really like R. Schaffer Heard, this part is great for walking and biking. Whitetail Ridge is another good one, smaller that RSH, I believe the other COE park there is Holiday equally nice. When you are nearer Atlanta, on the northside along I 75 there is the Red Top Mountain State park, have not stayed there in a while, won't comment, but McKinney Campground another COE is a year round campground and is a fine place to go. Site #110 is a good site as is 92 but there are many others.
Last weekend we camped at Blanton Creek Campground, a Georgia Power Company Campground on Lake Heard between Columbus and LaGrange, Georgia. A very pleasant campground, it is on a no wake zone of the lake and I saw some camping kids catching some Crappie from the dock.

I am just back from a trip to Red Top Mtn State Park. It was a nice park. Luckily I booked a pull through. Most of the campground is in the trees and hills above the lake. It is very tight in many spots and alot of the sites are tent only. They have 12 pull throughs at the entrance to the campground and they will take large rigs. Saw a fellow in a brand new fifth wheel pull down the road into the campground. I dont know how he got the thing back out of there but he did. There are sites in the campground that will hold a larger rv but I would stick with the pull throughs unless you have a shorter trailer or popup. The campground was clean and the bathhouses were clean. There is a gate but you are given a code and can come and go as you please. There are several day use areas and a beach area for swimming. There is a lodge and resturant in the park also. I really liked the mountain feel of the park. Cartersville wasnt too far a drive from the park if you needed groceries. I drove east on the road and found diesel accidentally for .20 less than on the interstates. But, that was over a week ago and no telling what it is costing now. I would recommend this campground. Reservations are needed. The place stayed about full the three days we were there. My next trip up that way I intend to try McKinney COE.

We are from Gainesville, Ga. next to Lake Lanier. We mostly camp at state parks. But we also enjoy Pigeon Forge, TN and Cades Cove TN. Lake Lanier has some nice campgrounds, but they are to close to home for us.
