Our 2007 Fleetwood Pace Arrow came equipped with a TracVision R4 auto seeking satellite system. Under most circumstances, it works quite well. However, while camping here in central Florida (where we live) we lose the signal every day around 10 AM. The screen goes blank and a message appears that it is "seaching for a signal". The interesting part is that the system begins to work again around 7 PM. This has not happened to us when camping in Georgia or Alabama.

The receiver (Direct TV) is one that we use at home, and it works 24/7 while at home--we have eliminated the receiver as being the problem. Some of our troubleshooting efforts include turning on the TracVision to see if it can once again find a signal, with no success. We have run a small fan in the compartment where the receiver fits thinking the problem might be heat related, with no success. We are beginning to think there might be a reflection or something within the dome. Most recently we were in a camp site that was perfect for picking up a signal--not an offending tree anywhere near the signal range, a cloudless blue sky for several days running. Bottom line is that we cannot get a signal during the day between 10 AM and 7 PM, or so.

Yesterday I e-mailed the tech folks at TracVision but would appreciate thoughts from fellow travelers, as well.

Wow that seems so strange. I also live in central Florida and use Direct TV services on our motorhome and have never experienced such a problem with reception. Just wondering if you are experiencing the problem due to Direct Tv high definition satellites or the regular satellite.

We do run an in motion satellite but not the TracVision system. Would like to know what you find out!

Ok there is the possibility that your dish is so small its not picking up the whole picture. Found the same problem in southern arizona but if one were to use a regular dish the signal was fine. Told that its because the smaller automatic dish.

we did have a somewhat of the same thing happen...about 10 am every morning our direct tv (tracvision as well) would say it was searching for the system....it finally turned out to be the fact that the zip code had been programmed incorrectly.....it makes no sense to me ...but it might help....

Since a dome, no matter what brand, won't work with DirecTV HD programming, I doubt very much this is the OP's problem.

Makes no sense to me, either. As far as I know, the only reason for putting in the Zip Code is to get the aiming coordinates...for a manual dish which, obviously, aren't needed for an automatic dish like a dome.

We also have a dome on our fifth wheel, although not the TracVision, and have never changed Zip Codes in the receiver menu and it still finds the satellite just fine. We've never been to Florida, but we have been in southern Arizona and it works just like it works every where else.
