I can't tell ya what states don't have state income tax, but many fulltimers use Livingston, Tx and www.escapes.com. Many others use South Dakota and their residency. So am guessing there is advantages to both.

Here's what we did...
I decided to use South Dakota... after looking at Insurance costs, vehicle tag costs... and other things important to us...
I first signed up for a mail Forwarding service... We used "My Home Address"
>> Link: http://www.myhomeaddressinc.com/
We had this in place before we closed the sale of our home. When we headed to Alaska the next spring... I stopped in Sioux Falls to establish a new Insurance agent... and transferred our vehicle insurance from Ohio... to SD. Next stop was to the License bureau to resister our selves for driving licenses... an eye exam and paperwork was all we needed... besides paying for them. Last stop was to the County offices to register our Truck and Fifth Wheel for South Dakota plates. Plates were given... and titles would be mailed to us.
We were finished in just a couple hours or so... had to wait for the County employee's return from lunch... LOL... it was very easy !!
Do your home work... read and ask questions... check the different costs between the states you are considering.
One footnote... we will need to return to South Dakota for driver license renewals... They allow them to be renewed... 180 days BEFORE... but no longer than 30 days after your birthday. Do the Math... see when the target dates you will need to consider your return for this requirement. In our case... May 20... is our target date... not exactly the best time to be in SD... in a RV.

We also use A SD address. We are out of Rapid City, With Americas-Mailbox Mail Forwarding Services. We signed up just prior to buying our used MH in PA and we had our MH registered in SD.
The mailing service took care for all of the registration of both vehicles while we were in PA.
We did fly out to SD to get our picture driver license, flew in in the afternoon of one day and out early morning of the next.
The insurance in SD is one of the cheapest in the country and their is no vehicle inspection.
We do have our vehicles gone over each year for our own safety, but we do not require an emissions test, and we don't pay for the price of a sticker.
TX has an inspection and when you get into the state you have 72 hours to get your vehicle inspected, not that we would go there.
Florida which is also a popular place to register has very high insurance rates.
Remember you have to do what is right for you.

I hope this info below will help answer your questions....
Here are a few things to consider when choosing a state for residence as a full time Rv’er.
Many people make that choice based only on SALES TAX and INCOME TAX and then regret having failed to consider other very important things.
Some other things to consider are, motor vehicle registration cost, inspections (smog, safety, etc. if required) how it is handled when traveling, insurance rates for vehicle as well as Health insurance, life insurance, personal property tax, estate tax/laws and wills, inheritance tax, drivers license (Continuous Traveler drivers license like Oregon), real property tax, stocks/bonds taxes, jury duty (does the state offer a waiver, when you notify courts that you travel full time?) are vehicle registration fees the same in all counties of the state, does the state charge a sales tax on the vehicle when registering it from another state (like Wa.), and this is just a few of the many things to consider.
The three states that are most popular for full timers are Florida, South Dakota and Texas. A few of the reasons is that none of these states have an income tax. They are very easy to qualify for residence. None of them require any physical time in the state, while many other states do.
Florida is popular, partly because they are home to Good Sam mail service, located in Pensacola.
South Dakota is the lowest of the three for sales tax and very easy to set up a mail forwarding system address. (Some counties in SD have a wheel tax, {added fee to veh. reg. per wheel on vehicle} check before selecting a mail fwd. service.)
Texas is popular partly because they are home to Escapees RV Club and there support service. Please remember that Texas sales tax varies by location determined by what you buy, example cars, Rv’s, golf carts, etc.
Go to this web site for a list of state income tax rates. http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/rate/ind_inc.html you will find that Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, Wyoming, all have no income tax, an New Hampshire, & Tennessee, are limited to dividend income tax only.
Montana is very easy to set up and use a Montana LLC to own/register the RV there and thus avoid all sales tax since Montana has none, but one must weigh the cost of the LLC (yearly cost) and setup cost versus what you save on sales tax.
I strongly suggest that everyone give a lot more thought to what state you will use as your legal residence when you go fulltime and not just the issue of income tax and sales tax. Look at all the aspects that will affect you, not just the obvious.
