Finally saw the new(er)-month old according to the rangers, moose twins-with mom of course- at Coleman State Park, Stewartstown, NH this weekend.. We have only seen moose twins once before so it was quite a treat. Mom didn't let them out in the open for very long so the views were fleeting, but well worth the effort/wait.
And, once while waiting for the moose three loons burst-literally-out of the water not ten feet in front of us and went into about a minutes frenzy of calling and chasing one another while walking / running on top of the water!!
Add in the two eagles, three osprey, two pileated woodpeckers, fox, assorted warblers and hawks and it was a fine weekend indeed.
Coleman is a great park and I hope that everyone in/near the area will make it a point to go there. While there are no hookups there is plenty of peace and quiet, lots to see, and we are told some of the best trout fishing on the planet.
