I went throught the posts in the "search" box but didn't see exactly what I'm looking for.
Now-a-days, wireless is available most anywhere, you can pick up an unsecured connection sitting in a parking lot.(I don't worry about "unsecured")
Truck stops, Walmart, Cracker barrels and of course campgrounds and most times I get connections and in some spots I can move 20' or 100' and get 100% connections. My question is, where and what is a good "external wireless antenna? There are so many and the spec's on these made me get a cocktail. I'm looking for a simple external antenna that plugs into a laptop.

I quess nobody knew, I didn't know until today that my nieghbor has one on his rig and he says it works great. If anyone is interested, look at radiolabs.com, click on home and click on waveRVstandard. (the class a picture)

Wilsons are great for CB's. I received one from RadioLabs, I could not get over how great it works.

Sometimes all you need is a power antenna of one kind or another and they are sold in walmart and some work great.

Try using a Wi-Fi booster. I use the Wi-Fire when I go camping and I am able to pick up good strong signals and more connections to connect to wirelessly. Its better than paying monthly for the aircards and with the Wi-Fire you are getting good fast speeds for a one time cost. hField Technologies makes it. Check it out you might wanna go this route instead. Let me know hope i could help..

From what I have been able to learn wi fi signals are directional...You can be 20' from the transmitter and not pick up a decent signal if you are facing the opposite way.....:(
