I'm hoping some of you ladies can help me with a very serious problem I'm having. We recently purchased a 38 ft. diesel motorhome and I'm petrified to ride in it! I can't sleep for days before we have a trip planned and I'm a nervous wreck the entire way. I can't sit in the back of the motorhome and ride as I have to be right up there so I can see what is going on, but I hate it! I feel terrible about this, as we spent a lot of $ on the motorhome and barely use it because of my problem. My husband is not at all a "happy camper" and I'm a nervous wreck. Have any of you ever had this problem? Any suggestions as to how I might overcome this would be soooo appreciated!
Thanks.

What, exactly, bothers you about riding in the motorhome? Maybe you need to learn how to drive the motorhome.
As far as sitting in the back, unless the position where you are sitting has a seat belt, you're better off being belted in in the passenger's (or driver's) seat.
And then, of course, there's always valium! ;)

I don't wish to be out of line, however & seriously, you may wish to consider counseling, sounds like you may have some kind of phobia.
Good luck, you're missing out on some great experiences.

Thoughts from Retfdlt's wife:
I absolutley love to travel but have had a fear of riding in our motorhome and it is because I have a fear of heights and speed, which makes for a very bad combination in mountain areas (ie, West Virginia Turnpike). We've taken small trips for me to get used to the vehicle like camping and just riding around. Its taken me several years to get comfortable. We finally have a long trip planned for September and I am so looking forward to it. The next time my husband wants to go over the mountains I probably will get some valuim because I want to go more than stay at home.
If you trust your husband's driving and you trust your vehicle I suggest just taking short trips to become familiar with it. Keep me posted..I do understand.

My wife has the same problem riding with me in our truck and will not let me purchase a motor home for then same reason. Even though I have driven millions of miles without a accident even in big rigs. I do believe it is a phobia like geo said and don't know if counciling would work but would be worth a try if you enjoy the rving live style and it would make you feel more at ease while on the road. What I got my better half to agree to is a seasonal site so I get to camp and she enjoys it also but there is minimal time on the road.

My wife sits over in the passinger seat and navigates for me she did it in the semi truck for six years and keep her busy looking for places to see. This will keep you busy and your mind off the motorhome GOOD Luck.
