He Call Me And Said He Got Baned From This Site For Advertising
His Radio Station . He Never Ask Me For Money And I Never Saw
Him Post A Request Eather. Telling Someone On A Forums Who He Will Be Talking To On A Radio Station Is Not Avertiseing Or Im I Wrong. Myrvparks Should Take A Good Look At Things Before They Baned Someone. But This Is Only What I Think. But Thom You Still

I was wondering why he was allowed to go as long as he was, promoting yourself, or your business, IS advertising, and is not allowed on any of the Forums that I'm aware of.
Now perhaps, IF you had posted a link to your favorite station that you listen to While camping, it may have been allowed.

i think some folks have too much time on thier hands. i give advice to folks with problems with thier rv's. i have a business doing rv repair. if i am asked i give the name otherwise i offer only what advice they want. am i advertiseing? do i solicit money for said advice? no. tom put his radio station out there, and invited folks to listen. nothin was said about money, ever. i admit i actually DO listen to his radio station, and enjoy it, and have never paid a penny, and see no purpose for his being banned. like i said some folks need to get a life!

I listen to the site myself. Plays the country music that I like and has some interesting guests ... all on the internet with no commercials. Better that many of the local radio stations. Although no longer here will continue to listen.

This site is free to users and I would suspect supported by its advertisers. Maybe the shoebox should talk to them about approaching from that angle.

i still think myrvparks is wrong to baned thom but i will keep listen to his station and i think myrvparks should check him out too there not no ad on his station just music and all he ever did was to invite us to listen so who ever baned him should go to www.tcscountryshoebox.com and listen before they band him and after that they should fix the chat rooms so we don't get booted out every 10 min or maybe we all need to just find a new site:mad: :mad:

IMOP, Advertising is advertising, I never said anything that wasn't my business but I did wonder why he was here for so long. I thought he was one of the moderators. :-)

IMHO thomas wasn't hurting anyone what he may have been doing could be thought of as advertising his station but all he did was alert people that it was available to listen to. It was free and he didn't advertise for others as far as I know. I don't know if it was right to boot him from the site but he could have been warned about his behavior first. There were a few that enjoyed listening to his music while in chat and he didn't force himself on anyone. With the lack of activity on this site I would think you would welcome someone to spice things up. I do realize that you have to moderate some things that go on here to keep them from getting out of hand but I don't think thomas was causing any problems unless he was violating copywright laws by playing the music here.

Everytime I hear the words 'non profit' I get close to having my head explode, is anyone going to say that the venture being discussed is NOT a business-does the person in question take a salary or profit from the activity?

Now I will admit to not having read every one of the posts by this fellow; how many had, as a topic, what a reasonable individual would consider to be camping/rv related?

From those I read the intent was clear and it was to promote a web site which is unrelated, in every way, shape and form, to this website.

BUT the million dollar question I have is this: does this individual provide plugs for this site on his station????????

Having said this, just why is there not (or is there) a 'commercial' forum for rv related businesses? it certainly would be a source of revenue for the site owners.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying I want to see popups everywhere, but a sub section for quality products might be neat...

For instance, I highly recommend a certain brand of cell phone booster; it could be tested by this site and the results posted and ditto for many of the other thousands of rv products out there , and the beauty is that the requirement would be that the product be donated or loaned for testing.

Then again I am sure that a reason exists why someone has not already done this.

Forgot, the motto could be ' tested by rv'ers for rv'ers' - gotta admit-its catchy!!

Ok, if he did promote this site-on air- than this changes things a bit but we have to acknowledge that the owners/moderators of this site do set policy its their exclusive right. Just as the owner of the radio station in question has the right to play the music from the artists of his choice.

So the next question to be answered is how many of his posts were rv/camping related?

Perhaps if it were up to me I would have allowed the posts to continue as long as the promotion of 'myRVparks' continued, maybe with a banner on top stating : W XXXX the official station of myRVparks.com-but I ain't runnin the joint.

At any rate I fail to see how the decision to not allow posts could possibly affect this mans business in a negative way.

and the answer is YES! he did promote this site to his listeners, and often played songs requested by folks on campfire chat, and would say it was from a campfire chatter. since being banned, you can guess what he has to say about this site NOW!. not much of it good, and why should he? those of that still listen to him enjoy his show, and i think he could have done some good getting more folks to come here!

Personally I did not see a problem with your post concerning your radio station, it was pushing the limit, but in my "opinion" it didn't exceed the forum rules concerning advertising, if any thing it helped promote activity on MyRvParks, and right now this forum can use all the promotion that it can get.

That one of the few parts that is clear to me-tj did the owner of the station want to discuss rv/camping issues here or did he want to promote his business on myRVparks?

Apparently one moderator felt that the reason for the posts were commercial and unrelated to the outdoors and another moderator stated that the agreeded to 'limits were being pushed'.

One moderator having a concern is enough for me, two moderators having the same concern should be enough for all of us.

But most importantly I wonder if TH would even want to post if the topics had to be mostly rv/camping or outdoor related and this raises another point for me anyway-when someone is banned does it simply happen out of the clear blue or does it happen as a last resort, after multiple contacts where the 'offending' behavior has been typed about? I suspect that the latter is correct.

I really would like to see this worked out to EVERYONES satisfaction, and this raises yet another question, is the ban temporary or permanent?

I just thought of something, how cool would it be if this station had a weekly rv hour? if I would be willing to listen I am certain most others would want to tune in also-I say Saturday mornings at 11:00 am eastern. The first show would include a manufacturers update-upcoming events-a new products introduction-a piece on camground news-favorite trips-favorite recipes-tech corner, this could be huge.

ok i know first hand thom was never told to stop he was just banned it was forever----number 2 thom had just started the station may 4 2009 the thing
was all about rv'ers just talk with any one who listen to him--i did and still do--thom never talk about nothing on the air but weather,travel,myrvparks,and the artist that he was having on the air one listner here has a wife who is very sick and thom would say hi to her on the air and play her a song.and her husbon has even told me it would briten her day . i just talk to thom on the phone a 1 hour specal would be no problem on sat.he said that what the station was started for anyway ,for campers but he did say myrvparks could not be promoted any more as long as he was being treated the way he is by them. he also so said he love and miss every one here and to say hi and that he is very saden that what he was wanting to do here for folks didn't work out --but he's very glad every one stills tune in

Not many votes yet but thats what I mean about this site it needs something to spice it up and get more people to use the forums and chat. We lost a lot of our regular chatters a while back and haven't gained any replacements most of them just stopped coming and gave no excuse. A few more left because a person on here was harassing their husbands and sending them scantilly clad pics. Now they are afraid to come here for fear of divorce lol. In my mind it takes two to tango and they should have thought what they were saying before they typed the stuff they did to deserve what they got. When ever there are humans communicating there will be people getting their feeling hurt or disagreements over stuff and you need thick skin sometimes.
I live my live in a way that I let a lot of crap people say go over my head expecially the stuff that bothers me. But there were a lot of people here that took it to heart expecially when perople that were saying things were half way across the country and you will never meet them. With that said I had no problem wioth thomas even though I never listened to his station he didn't force anyone to listen to it and jsut made a fe wposts refering to it and lord knows this site isn't over daunted by posts. Heck some days I don't see any new ones for weeks.
I must admit thoughif you have a rving question thats legitiment whodo and steve are there to help. As are many others I also try to help but my knowledge of some things on rv's is limited. But I am a expert cabinet maker and woodworker having built cabinets for the conversion van industry. I also considermyself a good cook and am very knowledgeable in the kitchen. So I try to help people out the best I can. The tyhing I don't get is I enjoy this site much better then the other site I refer to as (the dark side) RVNet but they have so many posts and I can't believe this site hasn't caught on better because of the format. I'm sure if we keep plugging we can make this site as popular as the other one because I think the people here are much freindlier than the other one and a tighter knit group. A lot of that I contribute to the chat room. You get to know people better when you can chat to them live. :)

First of all, the first thing that needs to be done is to get it right in the first place. I found this definition on "wikipedia": Advertising is a form of communication used to help sell products and services.

I don't think he was trying to "sell" anything, and to be banned for something he apparently didn't do really is a shame.
