I see some of the lady members on here have listed Scrapbooking as a hobby...are there any "Stampers" out there? I enjoy stamping and plan on putting together a Rubber Stamping tote/carry-along for our camping trips. Any suggestions for what NOT to forget in my tote?

I enjoy both stamping and scrapping! But no suggestions for you. When we travel I leave all my supplies at home. Just take lots of pictures and do lots of journaling while we're away.

It is a good Idea to make a stamp book table of contents. Take a journal notebook and stamp the stamp with a discripiton and a page number. In the book stamp and journal. When you go on a trip you will have a quick refrence of the stamp you will want to use for your cards or scrapbook designs. Sassyscrapper.com is a good place for stamps.

These basic tools you should know by now:- just keep it simple

Two to five stamps
two chosen stamp colors
white card stock/envelopes
a journaling stamp
mailing stamps

I've never gotten into "scrapping" but love stamping cards. Since I take my laptop and printer when we go RVing, I don't take any of my stamping gear. I print out pictures as we travel and immediately put the in an album. With the help of a daily journal, I keep everything up to date with info gathered from all the places we visit. I also had a Web Journal to keep family and friends up to date with pictures, itinery, and maps. That was a blast and well received.

Since we are full-time, I carry all my rubber stamps, cleaner, and inks in a tote box. All I have done is catagorize them by theme in plastic zipper bags. I use my laptop and printer along with stamping and scrapbooking. I have 2 greeting card programs, sometimes I just use the sayings or the covers, then I stamp and punch and chalk the rest. I don't get into embossing as my husband says I have too much craft stuff to add weight and threatens to throw it all out!! I do need to get rid of some of the things I am not using anymore, but might meet some new gals who are making just what I have materials for! Sorry for getting off the track. I just joined the site today and it's nice, not all tech stuff for the guys! Judy

I am a full time Rver and have all my stuff with me, and I am looking for people that may want to "swap" cards with or something like that. This is something that I have been trying to work on every day it makes me feel good! So let me know I am going to try to have a new site up to have cards posted on there. Well let me know! Thanks, Trina

Actually, there is a lot of great input in this thread - but that one sounded just like my travel partner - he's always on my case about my craft stuff . . . until I create something he really likes - then wants me to make more and tries to figure out where to market them, etc!!!! (Except I hate to mass-produce anything - I like making things because it feels good!)

A just-for-fun item though. Last year we worked at Splash Magic in Northumberland, PA. They had a dolphin and a dragon as their mascots and were hopelessly looking for simple stamps that Splash (the dolphin) and Magic (the dragon) could use to 'autograph' items.

While researching on line I found a great site for making your own rubber stamps, from Pearl erasers. The erasers are only about 50 cents each, but I only messed one up. Once I had the stamps set the way I wanted them I mounted them on wooden blocks with handles the two mascots could hold 'em with their gloves on. I also colored a few in on my computer art program and printed them on shrink art paper. Once baked, they were used in arts and crafts and sold as charms in the store.

Yes! I'm a stamper...recently adding die cuts to my addiction! However, with all the stuff I have, (been rs-ing for 10+ years) it just wouldn't do to bring it along...our MH is only 36 feet! LOL! A few stamps and a couple different ink colors just won't do! So I take lots of digital photos and work from there when we get home. Then everybody gets cards of where we went and what we did.

However, one tip I do have if you do want to bring a few things is to take the rubber stamp off the wooden mount and replace the wood and foam with velcro. Then invest in a several sizes of acrylic mounts thru HALOS. Wonderful system. You can get literally hundreds of stamps in a very small space...and lots less weight.

Happy holidays to ya'll
