Internet cards are going to be spotty from time to time just like phone service and its mainly cuz the phone companies are too cheap to let others utilize their towers. I have the moto sat dish with hughes net service thru them as well, its a bit pricey but I have net anywhere as long as the dish can see the southern skys.

I have HugheNet Internet Dish which I attach to a Tri-Pod. It is less costly than the one the Moto Sat Dish system but it's not supported by HugheNet. The very few times I have needed Tech service... I just call the dealer I purchased it from.
It's not a system for those who want a simple method of connecting to the Internet... but it will get a signal in places where there are no Cell towers. As stated above... it just needs a clear line of sight to the southwest sky... and a few minutes to set up and acquire the signal.

Verizon has better coverage than Sprint...at least where we travel. However, you won't find ANY air card that will work EVERYWHERE. There are still vast areas of the country, particularly in the western states, that are not covered by cell phone towers.
If you want something that will work everywhere, your only option is satellite Internet, either from HughesNet or StarBand. Initial equipment cost for the tripod-mounted systems cost somewhere in the $1,500 range, less for used equipment. Monthly fees for HughesNet starts at $59.99 and goes up from there...the more you pay, the faster speeds you'll get and the more FAP (Fair Access Policy, simply put, the amount of data you can send and receive before your speeds are slowed to a crawl).
You cannot call HughesNet to get the tripod-mounted system...as the previous poster stated, HughesNet does not support moving their dish (except for the much more expensive automatic DataStorm system). That means that you'll need to find a good supplier who will not only sell you the equipment, but be there after the sale to help you if you run into any problems.

Thomashand,
Our Monthly cost for HugheNet is around $63.00. That is for their Service plan of $59.95 Plus our State Taxes.
This is ONLY for Internet and do not include Dish TV service. We use DishNetwork for our TV service.
We purchased our equipment a few years ago at Quartzsite Arizona at the "Big RV Show". With a little additional Cable... ours cost around $1,300.00. There was a contract for the equipment much like there is for Cell Phone service in most cases.
Here is the Link to the company we purchased from... Keep in mind there are several others who you can get prices from as well.

Good Luck in your research.

I also have Sprint with Broadband and I have not been able to get it to work except once in 8 months. I have just purchased Tether - which is a software that works on the cell phone and computer together ( I don't know how it works - but I'm on the internet now with it). I was able to get on the internet and have great download speeds (so far). The downside is I am not (yet) able to email from Outlook. This costs only $49.99 (there is a $29.99 special until 3/16/10) and there are not additional charges. It works with BlackBerry phones - don't know which others they will/will not work with. I've had it for about 5 hours now and I'm in love with it.
You should look at it at www.tether.com and see if it would work for you.
