I like things with engines, big engines/small engines it doesn't make any difference, and I particularly like looking at boats; old boats especially.

A while back while walking the tie down area of a state park two crafts caught my eye, one was a fairly large i/o which had the lines of an older boat but finish wise and condition looked to be brand new (I appreciate the work involved and the pride that some people take in owership) turned out that this magnificent boat was just over 25 years old!

Next to it was what looked like to be a brand new 'jet ski' type of craft but one of the larger ones-at least a two seater. The dw says, 'its sort of cute-lets find a place to rent one some day'.. The owner walks down, jumps on and starts the beast up (as is the case these days the age of the owner is proportional to the speed of the vehicle and this guy was a certified old fart just like us!) the Mrs. stops dead in her tracks and says, 'that has a blower in it' I say, 'aren't alot of boats turbo charged now?' she says, ' good grief dear can't you tell the difference between a turbo charger and a super charger?'-'apparently not' I say......

Well anyway, a few days ago she is surfing the net and calls me in to the office, "honey you gotta see this" (this is what she said just BEFORE she came home with a new Subaru Forester XT Sports) 'remember that jet ski at the lake, look at the specs', as the dw noted it is supercharged, it has 255 hp and the fuel consumption ranges from 6 to 30 (thirty) gallons per hour!!!!

The six gallon figure has to be at a very restrained velocity, and the thirty is of course at wide open throttle but here is my point, most users have to be spending almost all the time at the upper end of things which would mean that even at the lower end of the 'fun' meter fuel usage has to be over twenty gph-figuring premium probably, thats close to $60.00 an hour, just for gas.

Some toys just don't make sense.....
