No rebuild parts are available for the sani con, seems (according to a distributor) that Thretford has bailed out of this product and sold the operation to a machine shop in the mid west. The only option I had was to replace the entire macerator assembly for about $250 which after I saw what had been going on in the internals of the pump/motor made no sense to me at all.
Should you have a Phoenix Cruiser with a sani con or should you have a sani con or similar on another coach, and should you, like we, have a nuiance drip at both the bayonett fitting and/or where the fitting is attached to the pump I believe I have found the reason.
When the creeps at Phoenix mounted our pump they left two pieces of tape on the o ring at the bayonett that the maker of the pump uses to hold the ring in place during shipping. I am convinced that his is why ours had a drip from the very beginning-the tape prevented the o-ring from making a perfect seal.
Really I am glad to be switching to a basic and reliable gravity drain. Smarter people may be able to put me straight but I am convinced that this manner of tank draining-sani con- promotes odors by the slow manner, compared to a 3" gravity drain, in which the tanks are drained.
Material has to be deposited on the walls of the tank as the liquid is slowly pumped out, the fast gravity system using a large hose HAS to bring more material out; its common sense-or it is to me anyway.
Besides, converting over is only going to cost me about a $150, using the best hose and fittings on the market; haven't decided if I am going to leave the electric valves in. As one is slow I am leaning towards losing them also and go to a cable manual valve.
Its not a pleasant job but at least its our own poop so to speak - I really cannot imagine doing this for a living
In a way its sort of funny, the symbolism I mean, its like the rv is going to the bathroom on ME....
