I have never camped at Grand Island S. P. but I have been down to Grand Island several times on fishing trips with customers back when I worked for a living.
It's about 2 hrs below N. O. and it's well maintained 2 lane all the way. Fishing and eating or drinking are the main activities available as it's an active fishing village. I want to go back there to camp someday myself, so if you go let us know your experience.
Be sure to drive up to Golden Meadow early one morning and have breakfast at Rosy's Cafe. The same cast of Ca-gins are there every morning. They are very friendly & highly entertaining.
