"There's a big thing in there!!!!!!!!!" so says the dw after she came in from removing some clothing from the camper yesterday-I say, 'could you be a little more specific', "its a bug, its huge-it looks like one of those things at my mom's house"-I say, 'but dear, we've been back about five weeks, no cockroach could last that long without food and water', (One of my pest countermeasures after visiting South Carolina-even at Christmas time when it is cold here-is to even more thoroughly vacuum the inside of the rv after I remove all the non can food stuffs AND tape over the drains in the sinks and shower) "its NOT a cockroach, its a Palmetto bug" she says: I say, 'sorry dear but a Palmetto bug is just a nice name for a big cockroach'. "Gross" she says, "YOU get it out NOW"
'okedoke' I say

So, here is what I have done so far;
12 sticky traps with a little soda cap full of water in the middle have been placed in the rv

6 more sticky traps with bait have been placed in the rv

8 'roach motels' are inside

the entire interior of the rv, along the walls has inverted duct tape with boric acid and silica sprinkled on the tape AND the furnace has been running for nearly 24 hours, its really hot in there-103F* at floor level, 95F* inside the cabinets under the sink.

However just in case I cannot produce a body-does anyone have any other suggestions?

Couldn't resist saying that.

Yes I have a warped sense of humor, but being from Alaska (born & raised, until I was able to move to warmer climate) everyone knows that neither heat nor cold will kill a roach, there one of the few bugs (mosquitos also) that can live in Alaska's environment.

whodo,
I am thinking that not even a necular event would eliminate those critters.

That is exactly the reason I don't travel to the south or go into ghetto here lol. I hace heard the best thing for ridding yourself of the critters is boric acid I would sprinkle it in every crevasse and cupboard in the rv. I worked for one of those rental furniture place when I was younger doing furniture repair and I couldn't believe how many of those bugger could fit inside the underside of a sofa. They also love electrical appliances either the heat or vibrations from the motors attract them. also look for what look like little brown pills those would be their eggs. We used to have to check our shoes every night when going home to make sure we didn't have any stuck to them.:eek:

"Did you catch 'Bob' yet" the dw asks yesterday-she nicknamed the roach Robert- I say, 'we have one clever cockraoch on our hands, AND we have to change the name from Robert to -Roberta-, the wife says, "your kidding right?", I say, ' I wish I was, two roachetts, but no roach'.

Going down South has lost all its appeal-or rather going down South in OUR camper has lost all its appeal, 'Cruise America' anyone?
