I read an article a while back that said something about if you store your motorhome for a length of time - that all of the transmission fliuid drains out of the gears so when you take it out of storage the gears have no fluid to start out and it damages your transmission over time. anybody know if this is true and if so how can you remedy the situation if you have to store it?
Thanks ahead for any feedback on this:)

Ok are talking about a STANDARD transmission? Or a Automatic transmission. Automatic transmissions have a lube pump which starts pumping the fluid through the transmission as soon as the engine is started.
A standard transmission is sump lubed. The gears get there oiling from the gears passing through it and actually slinging it off allowing it to drip back down into the sump of the transmission case.
The only effect of leaving either one sit for a prolonged period of time is SEALS DRYING OUT. This is more problematic with a automatic transmission than a standard.

Forgot to mention in the previous post, when storing a vehicle with a automatic transmission you need to start the eng and run the transmission through the gears every month or so to keep the seals from drying out. Be sure to allow the engine to come up to operating temp.
Also it is a good idea to take it for a drive to exercise the eng., trans., rear end, and tires once a month if at all possible.
