I have 2 children and the best thing you can do is find out where the nearest hospital is located just in case something happens.
One of the campgrounds we go to in the upper part of Michigan has only a volunteer fire dept. and it takes about 30 minutes for them to get to the campground and my son got his leg burned when he got to close to a fire ring and we had him at the hospital in 10 minutes.
Also always keep a well stocked first aid kit in your trailer you never know when you or a fellow camper may need help.

learn CPR and first aid!!!!!
I took my courses and I for one make sure people around me including elderly know that i am here to help if they need me. I hope i never have to help someone but i am glad i know how. A first aid kit is a great idea, we also carry our police scanner so we know how far away they are incase we call them. Ask the campground owners for the numbers to all emergency stations. Some thank god put it in their manuel.. suggest they do the same thing.

I understand your question and most cg's have the nearest emergency facilities posted in the office I always check when going to a new cg.
when traveling in northern Mi. it can be quite a ways to a hospital that has an emergency room. For some less serious situations similar to a small burn or cuts I would suggest a med express type facility which are common in a lot of the larger towns. They are usually equiped to handle these types of problems. As for a heart attack or much more serious situations I would wait for the first responders as they are trained and equiped to handle these types of emergencies. They can also transport to hospital facilities mush faster than you could if the situation required it. They have access to live flight choppers if need be. They also have meds on board that could save a persons life in these situations. Yes they may take a while to get there but from the standpoint of a retired volunteer fire fighter what may seem like forever while your waiting are usually just a few minutes. A lot of people have always said it takes first responders 1/2 hour to get there but when you go back to dispatch tapes it is usually just 5 minutes but seemed like 1/2 hour.
