Last summer I was having trouble with my refrigerator. I stopped a repairman and he said it was too hot and to put a fan on it. I thought this helped but as time went on I could tell it was quitting. I decided to replace it myself and when I took it out it I found the ammonia was leaking out of a crack in the tube. Since the warranty had only been out a short time and I felt it was their problem I called Domatic and was told that since it was out of warranty I would have to be out the expense for a new one. I didn't feel this was right but what could I do? I had a problem getting rid of it because noone wants to haul off a refrigerator leaking ammonia but I found a man to take it. Now I have received a letter from Domatic saying they are recalling the refrigerators because of this problem with them leaking ammonia. To get reimbursed for this I must have the serial number off of the refrigerator and since I no longer have the refrigerator I don't have the number. They know I had the refrigerator because they sent me the letter and they had my address. Does anyone know how I can get this company to stand up and do the right thing? Thanks

Just a thought: Did you keep the manual/instalation flyer for the 1st refrig? If so, sometimes they do list the serial numbers. I myself try to remember to write down serial numbers on my manuals (if it isn't already on there) just incase I do need the info later. I have found the following website, maybe you can read stuff there and find an answer or someone to contact. (Sorry I probably wasn't much help).

If you bought the RV new, some dealerships send in all the warranty cards for all the appliances for the customer. Check with the dealership, there is a chance they kept a record of the serial numbers to assist them if any future warranty work was necessary.

Good Luck

You can go to the site and type in your model and serial number to see if the refrigerator is part of the recall.

I would check with several RV repair places. I would explain my problem and try to get a number off one of the removed units. You could try submitting that number an hope it makes it.

Check your closets for list of options in your coach. Usually there is a piece of paper with all your equipment and serial numbers...........

we have been having nothing but trouble with our dometic....which model did you have that's recalled? Also if you belong to FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) run this by them or one of the other camping mags....you've seen the columns where these magazines/clubs will embarass a company into doing the right thing. FMCA is only 35$ a year and has lots of perks!!!! So sorry you have to go through this...

You can also check on or inside of the cabinetry in the kitchen area for a sticker from the manufacturer. Or if all else fails, call the manufacturer themselves and request this information. They should be able to look this up if you give them the 17 digit vin number off your RV.

We are a repair facility located in Elkhart, Indiana and we are always under "Their" guidelines if we want reimbursement for warranty claims. All appliances must list the model and serial numbers in order to get paid. Therefore, what they are asking for is not uncommon.

Best of luck!

Inever had a problem with a refridgerator in a rv until now. My model (rm2862) was recalled last week. I took it to a local rv dealer and they installed a rework kit in it. Got the camper home and found out the fridge no longer works...hummmm...took the camper back to the dealer and was told I need a new fridge...$1609 dollars!!! I believe the problem is with the rework kit or bad install...anyone else have this problem?

Your in a tread from back in July, go to your RV dealer first, after they give you the bad news, being 5 years old etc., they will tell you who to contact or Google the company.
