Hey when can we motorhome up to Mount Rushmore ?
You know ... like I dont want to have to mess with chains or even any snow .
We live in So. Calif.
Any reccomends....?

Hi rvspace! My suggestion would be to email/contact the CG where you are thinking of staying...I'm sure they can tell you the weather/season information you are looking for. Happy Camping!

We went to this area last year in early June before all the crowds and the weather was comfortable. Stayed at Mt Rushmore KOA which was great. (we are now members of Passport America, but were'nt at the time, so maybe they have a campground for you at half price). The area offers not only Mt Rushmore, but Custer State Park, with roaming buffalo and wild mules all over the roads (!), Crazy Horse Memorial (don't miss the nightly Laser Show at 9pm), Deadwood (great fun) and nearby Devil's Tower. If you're then driving west across WY, don't miss Custer's Last Stand just north into Montana, and of course Cody, Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Jackson Hole. We had a great time, starting out in Denver through Cheyenne before heading up to Mt Rushmore area, then after Grand Teton, we headed through Bear Lake in Utah. Happy Trails!
