Hi everybody. I would like to work on the road. I have not worked in many years. I was a housewife for most of my married life. Most of the jobs I had were schoolbus driver, temporary agencies etc. So I am not sure about the skills that would be needed. Plus, many of the places I worked are now gone, and I am not sure about references anymore. Any suggestions and info would be appreciated. So much has changed in 40 years. This year we bought a travel trailer, and would like to fulltime it.
My concern is the house. I would love to sell the house, but I am afraid to be without a homebase. Especially, with property prices rising as they are. Trying to learn as much as I can before we make a final decision.

We have been fulltiming for almost 20 years and giving up your home base is a choice only you can make. We always felt that having a house somewhere was an added worry. Have you thought about renting the place so it can work for you?

About work camping have you looked at the site www.workkamper.com ? It can be very helpful. There are all kinds of jobs needing filled all over the country and you will have the skills needed for many things out there.

We have done some work camping and plan to do a lot more now that we have fully retired. We use Work Kamping and are pleased with the site and the guidance you can get there.

Best of luck

You do not have to sell you home right away. Go on the road and return home after a few months. See what you like. We did it for 2 1/2 yrs. DH just had to have a homebase. I could care less, so we have a home base. We stay on the road 6 months and at the house 6 months with a 3 1/2 week trip to Connecticut in the summer which makes it 5 months home. Take it slow.

we have workamped for 10 yrs. just about any jobs you can think of are out there. workamper news is the best place to look but also coolworks.com is a good website to find jobs. did i see where you had driven school bus? if you still have your cdl that is a good thing. mesa verde national park plus a lot of other nat. parks now want bus drivers.

we have worked for concessionairs at nat. parks. worked at an old plantation in charleston, s.c. driven bus, worked at camp grounds, convenience stores etc. if you are willing to work hard there are no limit to the number and kind of jobs available.

We have been workcamping for almost three years now... when we went on the road, we just traveled for almost two years... but decided to return to work to offset some of the expense and we wanted to change our rig out. All of our jobs have come from the workamper website. We did an awesome applicant this year and could not believe all the offers we got. I need to check out those other sites mentioned in previous replies. We have had great experiences on the jobs that we have taken so far.
